A Major Bug for Players

I honestly did not want to say anything about this bug because it truly irratated me so much that I gave up on the game for weeks. I am going to explain this now though; I might just save someone's game, and I really do not want to see someone else lose a ton of work because of a faulty in-game issue that should of been fixed in the beta. I will say right now that you do not have to believe me, and heck, you can test it yourself if you like. I am giving you the details based on how it happened to me, but that means that even if certain things change, the bug can still occur.

On my second playthrough, immediately after getting the Elite Advanced Suit (arguably the best suit in the game) I got to a bug that completely prevents you from moving on in the game and it will leave you stuck at the mining drill. After going through the elevator, getting the goodies and the suit, you will head into the next room, deal with Nicole (I think, might be wrong), and then head into a room with a store, bench, and a savepoint. The room immediately after houses the drill you use to get into the public sector, and also the second Diamond Semi-Conductor in the game. I am going to bold this next statement.

SHOULD YOU ENTER THE MINING DRILL ROOM, DO THE ENTIRE ROOM BEFORE LEAVING THE ROOM AND SAVING. DO NOT GET ONE PIECE OF THE MINING OPERATOR CONTROLS (The disk and battery).

How this happened to me is that I always forget the battery, so I went up and grabbed the disk/data card thing, and returned downstairs with it. I did not put it in the machine because you do not have the option to do so, until you grab the battery. You can grab the card then the battery if you want; that is not the issue. The issue is leaving the room once you grab the card and saving. I had to leave to go eat my sub, and my girlfriend of the time was over. I did not want to watch me play Dead Space while she eats. Not exactly the kind of thing that makes you say "Yum!".

Should you do like I said above (getting the card and then leaving the room to save AND turning the game off or exiting it completely) you will be unable to open the battery case, and be forever stuck in the mining drill room. I am not kidding. I know it sounds both stupid and dumb, but this is for people who do not want to mess up on their second playthrough...so I hope I possibly helped someone out there. To get around this, just do not save in the next room. Just do the entire puzzle (it takes like 5 minutes) or simply turn off the game. If you must save, save into a new file, and hope that this does not happen to you.

My first playthrough of game I had the unfortunate issue where you can't remove the power cells from the burning room (because they didn't load). Word to the wise, cycle through 3 save files - do NOT overwrite just one file infinitely).

My second playthrough I had another unforgivable incident (much more rare, I think). I was in chapter 6 before the (same) burning room and some parts of the level would not spawn. I had to scrub back 2 saves (at different save stations even) to proceed. Glad I was rotating 3 save files.

Still, one of my top rated games, despite the multiple game breaking glitches.
