Dead Space 2

Dead Space 2

Does anyone else think that dead space 2 looks and feels better to play then 3?
I'm playing severed dlc for the first time and omg it's like playing 2 all over again, the lighting, the movement, gunplay, enemy and environment designs, the sounds and how meaty or just how heavy everything looks and feels like i don't really understand the tech behind it but it just flows so beautifully.

Dead space 3 in comparison just played so cheap , the art direction, hit sound effects and the impact and lighting took a hit, so did the general animations or gun handling. Already made a post like this on sub reddit, thought this was the general consensus but apparently 3 is considered superior to 2 in this regard, don't know what to say but 3 just play like trash, it's not really satisfying.

right so i just found only one more person talking about it over here https://www.reddit.com/r/DeadSpace/comments/11msl8v/is_ds3_visually_worse_than_ds2/

it seems to me they used low res gore and the general art direction is worse and cheap, for me even the gameplay and sound design feels like ass bro

So in summary these are the confirmed downgrades i can sort of understand

1- Worse lighting to the extent of flash light not casting shadows on objects

2- The least complex version of PBR (Physically Based Rendering) for rendering

3-Low res gore and muddy instead of being fully detailed to save on performance

4- The art direction severally tanking for something much bland

5- Low quality sound design and hit feed back not as responsive making everything feel very spongy

the base game as isaac was a snooze fest, carter mf had all the best parts. awakened was true to form and hands down a better sequel then main game

The story around the development of DS3 and the closure of Visceral is a pretty sad one. This is what we could have: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiQiF9Wt2lM
EA had unrealistic expectations and steered the project into dudebro shooter. I don't remember whether it's technically inferior to DS2 so I will take your word for it, but the open orbit around Tau Volantis with the derelict graveyard was impressive, and it was kind of semi-open world too.

I wanted to buy the game on PC months back when it was on sale for 5€ but I didn't because it requires always online and EA launcher running in the background to play it. I would buy it on Steam out of convenience of a single click but the way it is, it's dead to me and not even worth taking my time to pirate it.

DSR surprisingly doesn't require EA's launcher so for once someone was not retarded enough to completely ruin the game's access. I wonder how many of EA's games are not played more because of them requiring their launcher to play it. I skipped Mirror's Edge 2 for the same reason.

DS2 feels better to play than even the remake of DS1. Gunplay and sound design in DS2 were GOATED.
