Quick Time Events not working in Dead Space 2
Nothing like a good old Quick Time Event (QTE) to ruin the immersion in any game, especially on the PC, but nothing me infuriates more than when they do not work.

Im playing through Dead Space 2, the QTEs are not working properly. No matter how many times I hammer the keyboard to the point where my finger aches and im afraid my hand will go through it, nothing happens. The first one at the start of the game I barely made it through and it seemed to just randomly let me past. Now Im at the train sequence and it just wont work, no matter what I press. If I manage to make it past this one Im going to be dreading the next one as I know there are a couple more.

Why why why do developers think these are a good idea.

Anyway, has anyone else had this issue? Better yet has anyone got a work around or solution?

Try enabling VSync in your video card's control panel (not in the game options). The issue you're describing is pretty common, and believe it or not it's because the game engine is designed to run at 30fps. Obviously, modern computers tend to run the game at outrageously high frame rates, and this causes the physics and QTEs to go all wonky. Using VSync would be the easiest way to limit your frame rate and hopefully make these parts more manageable.

just don't enable V-Sync in both the GPU's control panel and in-game (had suffered a rather suddent and hilarious glitch because of that, which made me fall out of the map and die right after walking through a malfunctioning door)
Really? That's strange. It's been a sort of "common knowledge" regarding Dead Space games that playing without VSync causes the physics to spazz out, make doors get stuck, QTEs to break, invisible walls, etc, etc. The in-game setting causes massive input lag, so enabling it in the control panel is the most common solution. Not everyone's experience will be the same, of course.

well when I enabled V-Sync through my old GTX660 card in my old PC last April, as well as in-game, I was testing out the gameplay at the time. However, when I reached the malfunctioning door where you first get the Stasis Module, the other side of the door had a black background. Didn't think much of it and thought it was just one of those usual glitches, nope!!! The very moment I walked right through that door, I just began falling into an everlasting blackness, as the game decided to ♥♥♥♥ up and cause me to hilariously fall out of the map and commit suicide. I was literally crying with laughter, due to the incident catching me completely off-guard.
Thanks guys for your responses. Iv actually an old enough system but i enabled vsync and it sorted itself. Muchous Gracious for the suggestions. Hope to ♥♥♥♥ devs just get rid of this mechanic all together!

I don't know if anyone is even active in this thread. But I'm having the same problem with the QTE's. Here's the thing...I have v-sync enabled, AND I'm hammering my keyboard. Is there something else I have to do?
