Dead Space 2

Dead Space 2

why the hell does dead space 2 crash at startup????
I have over 60 hours in the game and no problem before, now I want to play it again and it crashes as soon as I click the start button. I've deleted all the files and reinstalled it, nothing is working. If anyone else has this issue please lmk any solutions. Thanks.

1. Right click the game in Steam
2. Manage > Browse Local Files
3. Right click deadspace2.exe
4. Click Properties > Compatibility > Enable compatibility mode and select Windows 7 from dropdown.

Heads up though; the game will crash if you alt+tab out.

That fix worked for me and made DS2 playable again, just like DS1.

download and install adk tool and you are good to go, had a problem with the game too. I open the game it crashes with a message " could not initialize graphics card ". Sometimes i get it again, but i restart the pc and it fixes it :ds1_dnd: :ds1_lol: :DS2_Unitology:

Hey OP, are you playing the game again on the same system it worked on before or did you install it to a new one?

If someone has Intel processors from 12th to 14th generation, there is an effective solution for this. Just go into BIOS and disable all E-cores, and then the game will start correctly and is playable. The game was created in the times when there was no hybrid processor with excess threads.
I have an i5-13600k and the game Dead Space 2 works without a problem after using the above solution.
Additionally, if you want your game to run smoothly without disruptions, it is recommended to disable V-sync for some and set the refresh limit to max. 144hz or less. Otherwise, some objects will fly too fast and it is unnatural, and the game will only have 30hz refresh. I have an AOC 1440p 180Hz monitor.

This is way too much work, if you're on Windows 10 or 11, you can simply set the game to not use those cores without having to actually disable them by using the second fix on the PCGW Issues Fixed section (you only have to do this once):

You can also go to msconfig. boot. advanced options. check number of processors. then put the limit to 10. Requires a restart each time though if you want to turn back on all processors.
