it might need the wrapper or you need to do the ADK fix, I have an intel 16 core laptop and had to use the ADK as DS2 has a problem with systems with a lot of cores I think (I might be wrong), but I got the black screen loading, spinning cursor then booted back to windows.
(see below) Link below for the ADK, if you want to use the ADK route.
Set Windows to automatically limit the game to one CPU core (for Windows 10 and 11)[8]
-Download and install the Windows ADK.
-During installation Windows ADK gives the option to select multiple tools, the only one needed is Compatibility Administrator.
-Launch the 32-bit version and select the new database under custom databases.
Click the database menu > Create New > Application Fix.
Provide the full path of the DS2.exe and give it a name of choosing.
-Skip past the compatibility mode options.
In compatibility fixes select ProcessorCountLieForHybridCPU.
Save the database from the Database menu and give it a name when prompted.
Select File > Install. Now the fix will automatically be applied whenever the game is launched.
There is a test run option you can click to attempt launching the game before you actually save the fix to see if it works, but after you save the database you will need to click install from the file menu. After you install the database it will automatically apply this fix each time you launch the game.------
I used the wrapper and that just caused a flashing texture or light issue so the ADK was my next route. If you get the look up glitch, take a look at your device manager and find HID Human interface device
Second HID-compliant game controller was my issue, for my Xbox One Controller. Just disable it, don't uninstall as it will just revert back later on.
The game should stop looking up. For DS1 it was the joypad.txt, DS2 was the HID issue for.
The above fix, you will need to find the link in one of the other forum posts, shouldn't be all that hard to find for the DX wrapper.

Too bad, it looked liked a fun and fine adventure.
Thx Steam for your not-working present, I had to fix but that can't run on a modern Pc !!!
You probably lost a customer here ...
Have you tried the ADK fix; if you don't find me asking.
I found the DLL fixed only really worked for me to actually get the game running, then I had the graphical issue. For others it solved their problem, mix bag of Necribos.
The ADK route fixed it for me entirely
I put the blame on EA also, they have known this issue for a while and done nothing as of present to fix it.
Sorry to read, its a great game, just modern systems don't play well with it.
I really wanted to play the game during my next holidays in the Dead Space!. I guess, I'll have to switch to movies again during free times !
AND NOW IT WON'T LAUNCH LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO.
I literally sat in front of my computer and cried for five minutes straight.
EA, we need a fix, and we need it NOW.
System explorer, a custom task manger program that allows affinity to the CPU, set it only to the top 12 and tick the box at the bottom of the list and done.
