dude deadspace 2 or 3 will not launch when you hit play or load a game. it has something to do with how or where its accessing save files or something. they changed something and now it wont even run. ive opened tickets with EA support just to be run around in a circle. Funny thing is ive played it many times, both games. ever since the new launcher came out everything went to crap.
it might need the wrapper or you need to do the ADK fix, I have an intel 16 core laptop and had to use the ADK as DS2 has a problem with systems with a lot of cores I think (I might be wrong), but I got the black screen loading, spinning cursor then booted back to windows.
(see below) Link below for the ADK, if you want to use the ADK route.
Set Windows to automatically limit the game to one CPU core (for Windows 10 and 11)[8]
-Download and install the Windows ADK.
-During installation Windows ADK gives the option to select multiple tools, the only one needed is Compatibility Administrator.
-Launch the 32-bit version and select the new database under custom databases.
Click the database menu > Create New > Application Fix.
Provide the full path of the DS2.exe and give it a name of choosing.
-Skip past the compatibility mode options.
In compatibility fixes select ProcessorCountLieForHybridCPU.
Save the database from the Database menu and give it a name when prompted.
Select File > Install. Now the fix will automatically be applied whenever the game is launched.
There is a test run option you can click to attempt launching the game before you actually save the fix to see if it works, but after you save the database you will need to click install from the file menu. After you install the database it will automatically apply this fix each time you launch the game.------
I used the wrapper and that just caused a flashing texture or light issue so the ADK was my next route. If you get the look up glitch, take a look at your device manager and find HID Human interface device
Second HID-compliant game controller was my issue, for my Xbox One Controller. Just disable it, don't uninstall as it will just revert back later on.
The game should stop looking up. For DS1 it was the joypad.txt, DS2 was the HID issue for.
The above fix, you will need to find the link in one of the other forum posts, shouldn't be all that hard to find for the DX wrapper.
Enjoy the game and have a nice new years. Also, the multiplayer does have some people playing on occasion, or come on here and find some like minded people.
Some suits and guns in the kiosk are free that were part of extra DLC, just buy them and add them to you inventory and don't use them if you want a vanilla run.
Sadly, still no Severed DLC... darn you EA.
There is an additional download that opens some doors that are locked from the Dead Space: Ignition game, gives you extra stuff: resources and short audio logs from the guy that frees you at the star.
Enjoy
