Dead Space 2

If you are getting the SERIAL NUMBER issue....
Go to EA for help. They have a support chat. Fight with the person for a bit and they will give you a free copy on origin.
If you don't want an origin copy (I hate origin) then just keep hitting them with questions of when it will be fixed. Don't give up, waste the persons time. After they tell you to basically F*** O** leave a negative rating on the person that assisted you and say why.
If enough people make this issue known they will fix it because it will eat their time.
You can also refund the game on steam which will hurt EA's bottom line because steam keeps their cut.
Hope this helps. This is unacceptable!!!

Also refunded and left a bad review SPECIFICALLY on the fact that they didn't fix the problem, but don't give the customer service person who literally has no say in the company a bad review. Hopefully just the act of refunding makes them fix it quickly.

I don't know why everybody is bashing support. This is not an issue with the game. I believe its not working because of the implementation of EA Play. For some reason the old (in my case 7 year old) serial key that Steam auto applies no longer works. But my issue was resolved in like 20 minutes.

I received this with my customer support
"There is some issue going on the Steam server where many players are not able to access Dead Space 2 on Steam Platform. Good thing is that this has been brought into the notice of the Game Team and Teams have confirmed there is some issue from the server-side. They are diligently working with the Development Team to fix this issue."

The issue with the serial number is that Steam and Origin are having trouble communicating. Support will give you a new version of the game.
YOU MUST UNINSTALL THE OLD ONE from Steam and Origin. Then reinstall, and launch through Origin

This was resolved and works fine for me now. I just have to launch directly through Origin now. Which isnt really a problem since it was already using it anyway.

That great for people that use Origin. However, many people (including myself) do not believe in Origin and do not want it on their personal computers. Hopefully a true fix will be in the works. More people refusing to give up and hammering support on the daily is the only path forward.

I just assumed it always played through Origin reguardless. I know that Dead Space 1 and 3 both require it. If that's changed then I understand. And as much as I hate EA, as long as you want to play one of their titles you need it. Much like Uplay and the Far Cry/ AssCreed games. It's unfortunate that we can't have everything in one spot, but in my personal opinion it's not the biggest deal.
For what reasons don't you "believe" in Origin?

Dead Space 1 runs without it. here is a reason. 1: ♥♥♥♥ EA. Many of us have owned these games since before EA shut down Visceral and they used to work on Steam. Maybe its because many of us are real gamers and don't give EA money nor want any of their ♥♥♥♥ applications on our PCs? Maybe because we reserve the space on our PC's for quality. I am really questioning if I am gona get the ME: Legendary Edition because that is a guarantee you need origin.
