Question on armor and weapons upgrading
I'm new to dead space but am playing my first run on normal. I was introduced to the whole weapon and suit system with the shop, along with all of their upgrades and points to spend.

Does it matter what weapons/suits I use/upgrade as well as my talent tree thing where I use "nodes"?

I hope not to worry about this too much, hopefully I can just pick whatever and it wont effect my playthrough negatively.

Let me know, thank you.

Some weapons are slightly less effective against some enemies, but certain ones like the good old Plasma Cutter and Pusle Rifle are more than enough. You can test out the other weapons, but personally a couple of them felt a little gimmicky and tend to run out of ammo a lot quicker, like the Line Gun (a larger version of the plasma cutter). But some weapons like the Force Gun and Javelin can be pretty interesting.

I'd focus on definitely upgrading your Plasma Cutter first, since it's such a good all-around weapon, then maybe focus on upgrading your RIG, Stasis Module and a second weapon, the last three in any order you want. I haven't played for a while so I can't remember if each suit has its own upgrade system, or if they merely change your passive stats (i.e. inventory slots, +25% armor etc.). If each suit has its own upgrade tree then maybe save your nodes for now, or put them into your weapons instead, but I think those are separate..

Also, using your stasis to slow down enemies is really strong and something you should learn to use regularly, especially if you find the game difficult, I'd definitely upgrade the duration and energy on that whenever you get the chance.

Other than that, goodluck!

the Contact Beam in this game is a pretty good weapon when fully upgraded, as the alternate-fire allows you to Stasis enemies when surrounded. so you might wanna upgrade that as well

This is true and very good advice as well!

So I can still choose whatever though right and should have no problem completing the game on normal difficulty correct?

Also, why are some weapons free and others of the same condition but dont have a symbol by them not free?

The free items are dlc stuff.

Okay, I was confused because there are blueprints I unlock for weapons I have to pay for. I assume this is the conventional way of using a weapon. So that's what I have done with the pulse rifle and several others, upgraded them as well.

Which, by the way, is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid and, in my opinion, ruins the resource management aspect of the game.

As far as I know, DLC on DS2 cannot be disabled, not even when the DLC checklist existed in the library menu, before Valve decided to remove it from the most useful position.

You used to be able to substitute the .exe with one from a previous version that did not have the DLC. I think I read that this doesn't actually work anymore, which is really unfortunate. Besides, by using an earlier version you're missing out on some of the patches and fixes which is really dumb.

The (kind of) good news is that there's a guy who's done some DS2 work already[methanhydrat.wordpress.com]. I've asked him about this on reddit and he says that he thinks it's possible to remove the DLC. But, he's busy with other things. He says that he hasn't forgotten about it. But if it's important to you, I'd encourage you to contact him and just let him know you're interested. I've also sent him a few bucks through his PayPal link on his website just to show support for the work he has done.

Also, he is /u/Methanhydrat on reddit.

As an alternative, you can take those DLC weapons and put them into storage. It won't work with costumes (obviously), but it will make your store cleaner. :dadhugo:
