I actually received the Handcannon

I recently completed a hardcore playthrough and loaded the cleared game to start NG+ on zealot difficulty. I found the handcannon and soldier suit waiting for me in the first store--which was surprising, because after reading this board regularly I didn't expect to be rewarded for beating hardcore mode.

What does reading the board have to do with ingame bonuses? Few people really complete games on severe difficulty levels. Either way, now there is a mention of the reward on the forum.

I'm pretty sure he's just talking about the fact that a lot of people have reported issues with it here. Most of the discussions here about the ingame rewards are from people that completed the appropriate criteria but didn't get the reward. Honestly it dissuaded me from even bothering to try myself. So it's good to hear that at least it worked for someone!

Hardcore mode has a glitch on PC that prevents you from getting the Handcannon unless you beat it without exiting the game. You can still pause it and use the three saves though.

I did finish that playthrough in one go using the free DLC gear from the store; but the handcannon is really only fun for five minutes. It's more entertaining to upgrade all the real weapons.

Just finished in hardcore after 4 days but I didn't do it one go. Right on the first store, the hacker outfit, antartic and pew pew weapon were not there but I've reloaded my cleared game on hardcore round 2 as NG+ on zealot.

P.S. I've saved this progress after the credits as cleared game on hardcore round 2 but when I click in new game+, there are only regular difficults available to click and still I not seeing all suits nor the pew pew weapon in the game.

Is this issue not solved? Do I really need to play in one go all over again? Why I can't pick NG+ on this cleared game on hardcore round 2?

You have to start a new game (not NG+), hardcore mode, withouth exiting the game. As i said you can still pause it and take a break whenever you want, as long as you don't actually shut down the game. You can use the three save slots as checkpoints. With some practice you can easily beat the game in 3-4 hours. Speedruns are about 2 hours long.

why not just use a save editor and add all the weapons + suits i did it and its pretty cool

All this chatter about bugs in the game make it kind of look like it was a broken mess, but it is hard for me to believe Dead Space 2 is a broken mess.

This is actually the only bug that i can think of. DS2 is a flawless masterpiece to me.

Hilarious some pointed that can be done in 3-4 hrs...it take around 2 hrs to reach chapter 7 plus an 1-2 hrs through chapter 10 and till the end another 1-2 hrs.

If you turtle around collecting every useless item and killing everything that moves then yes. Otherwise, 3-4 hours is already a lot.
