Dead Space 2

Dead Space 2

Something confuses me with the Titan Station.
I've always been curious exactly where the main locations of the Sprawl are actually located in the game world kind of sense. I remember when I first played this game not making sense of anything or where I was going. Looking out windows just looked like I was in a city in space outside of Saturn. But I've since learned the basics of this space station.

Technically it's a city that surrounds a fragment that was once the Titan Moon, and the Government Sector is built on that fragment and everything else surrounds it. In this image, you can assume Clark is standing somewhere on the building or meteor.

This image is from an altered perspective:

Here, you can plainly see the USG Ishimura and what I assume to be the CEC Facility behind it. On both sides of the CEC Facility is the city that plays as the rest of the game.

The Solar Array is not part of the actual Titan Station itself, you have to fly to it, but it's assumed to be North of the CEC Facility because the transport elevator is in that general area, and it's kind of where you fall when you return. The following image I believe was taken somewhere at the Solar Array I believe:

https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/885254803329499799/C8494FB2C059B065DE5AEC4A74042EA6279034D6/?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside|1024:576&composite-to%3D%2A%2C%2A%7C1024%3A576&background-color=black

If we have this image to go by, we can assume that the Array is above the facility and not below it (since the city extends both directions).

So this leads to my point. There's a part in Dead Space 2 where you have to freefall from the Solar Array back to the Titan Station. However, the CEC Facility is literally non existant. Was the building itself literally totally removed from the game? Or are all those broken pieces of rubble and debris flying around actually the huge building we see in the images above? Here is a video of the freefall, you can see for yourself this building is almost non-existant here, and it clearly tells me it was removed from the game entirely for whatever reason.

What's your thoughts? Is it something I'm missing or was the large building cut from the actual game in this particular scene?

probably removed because making a good model wouldve been a hassle

I've never imagined the station layout was like this, very interesting.

@Moon Man, during my recent playthrough, some time after making this post. There is a point after just completing the Ishimura in a section of the facility just before the mines seemingly located below the Government sector, you can see the rest of the sprawl right at the beginning of the mines. I recall noting that it certainly appears you can see this building in question (I'm still assuming it is the CEC building). But my memory could be wrong. So I don't think it was cut from the game itself, but it was certainly cut from the flying scene.

One thing I love about this station is that you get a huge Midgar (from Final Fantasy 7) feel to it, almost as if it was an inspiration.

Dead Space 4 when. :(

Last I heard the series was dropped by EA because DS3 didn't do as well as they expected. There won't be a 4 unless they change their minds.

In an interview, main dev guy said he wanted to turn it into a bigger horror experience, EA just nope'd them and well, EA'd the game with microtransactions and removal of horror elements. :(

With that said, I didn't hate Dead Space 3 as much as many. The game was still creepy and scary. They didn't remove all of the horror elements, just some. I also loved the whole ice planet theme going on. The game was beautiful when you were in the small space stations surrounding the planet. The planet itself also had this sense of dread. I didn't like the gloomy ending that pretty much left everything up in the air. Certainly not a way to end the series off if it is over, but whatever.

I am aware that the crafting system often made some players feel way too OP in their experience.

Still a great game and they took a risk but it didn't pay off completely, but nonetheless didn't fail completely as well.

It's a place. In space. With, er, space outside the windows. Something like that.
