Ride 2
A beginner needs help
Hi there,

I am a beginner (total beginner), I don't know to much about moto but I want to enjoy myself with race, and Ride 2 because I like race/simulation games.

I start learning some things I found on the net (on real moto) but I wonder in this game at the beginning it asks you to choose a moto.

At a beginner, what to choose ? there is a difference between except the fact that the power etc... is different ? thank you for you help.

PS : I know my english is a little weird, but it's not my native language.

Hi, congratulations on finally discovering the pleasure of simulation bike riding... i would sugjest if you havnt any experience that you DO NOT,, use any gamming assists and play in onboard view only,,, however if you play like this you must use a specific controller configuration (referr to my onboard league discusssion, but the important thing is to use the right stick (xbox 360 controller) forward for the rear brake so you can still use A for tuck, better to learn the correct way now instead of developping bad habits in the future,,,
As far as chosing a bike,, dont get to concearned, let the carreer guide you through the world of bike riding,,, all the bikes are fun and different , i do however recommend chosing a bike before the carreer race and doing some serious time attack on the track you are scheduled to race on... understanding the bike you ride is very important for making decisions about what changes you make with your setup,,, everything is explained in the garage, but then its up to you to try things out an see for yourself... enjoy!

Hi, Thank you. I'm a totaly noob with moto so i will follow your advices. Just try to find your "onboard leage discussion". I use an X Box One controller. For the tuck I don't know exactly what it is and what it does...

By the way, game assist can be found once you launch a race, before actually racing: in "race options"... not in game menu

Just say that because It wasnt obvious to me

Next tip: if you crash at every corner, maybe start with assists, Iccabob1 surely is a bike fan, and seem to think everyone is able to enjoy 20h of practice before finishing a race.

I have desactivated all assist and in a race alone (time trial) without looking at the timer (just to test) I think I can do it. I'm be able to make some km without falling that's pretty cool. I have some difficulties with the "steering" it seems to be very responsive.

I wonder how to tuck in fact ? on a horizontal line to speed up ? I think I need some explaination about some things but without assist I am pretty impressed with the controller config of Icaabob1.

Thank you for your future answers ;)

It's a lot better then Ride 1. But I can't for the life of me find out how/where I used to put the manual 'Tuck in' button in Ride 1, as nothing seems to fit my hands, nor logic for the manual 'Tuck in' So I currently have it set to auto.

And Yes. Tuck in is for aero at high speeds. I think it would be enough to lean forward as much as possible, as there actually is no reason to lean forward fully without hiding under the windflow. But I haven't done any real testing if you lose any speed between fully forward and tucked in.

(Using Xbox 360 controller)

The naked bikes don't really seem to do anything when using Tuck in, as then don't really have anything to Tuck in behind, and the geometry of them don't really allow you to be flat on the bikes.. well it would be possible, but it'd look silly, and your arms would fall off after one lap of Nordschleife :)

About steering being too responsive, what controller do you use?
As I find some older and heavier bikes, no matter how fully tuned they are, to be really slow at switching sides, and as I normally race cars in sims/games (due to lack of decent bike games these days) It's a really tricky thing to 'relearn' how to start leaning the bike so much earlier in the turns on Nordschleife, then just turning the wheel.

Hi thank you for your answer. I use an Xbox One controller and it works fine. The first bike I choose is the naked one that should explain why I don't understand what tucking does ;) May be Il will switch it in auto just to see when the pilot tucks and when not.

Steering is very responsive as you have to adjust the pression with it to not turn too far, it's pretty tricky I think, but it seems that we haven't any option to adjust this sensitivity like a wheel on a car race game.

I acidentally chose the supermoto bike as first bike. 2 minutes later, and the cost for a handle bar, cheat-enginge suddenly made me afford to skip to be stuck on the supermoto, and could by a bike I wanted to drive, instead of one of the three really boring and ugly ones you were forced to start with.
Just a Honda CBR 600 2004.
Without that I would've stopped playing at once, and not noticed that Ride 2 were so much better then Ride 1.

*Disclaimer* I'm not recommending you to cheat with this post, (as it's not allowed on steam)

Couldnt you simply hurt yourself for approximately 15 minutesby doing 3 legit races?

Actually.. No! As I wanted to feel how the game felt. with different bikes, if there were any significant improvement, or it would be refunded on the spot. The grinding/progress is almost just the same as in Ride1. The game that made me stop even bothering with Milestone products, even as I played Ride1 mostly online with friends.
(I started Ride1 career on a Yamaha MT7.. so I didn't want that horror of a start again!)

I guess everyone plays the way he likes after all... as long as it doesnt impact other player experience (aka cheating in multi)
