singleplayer is not my style as you dont built bases but have a crawler or something that can built some units but it has to deploy first
Readd up on part 4 and red allert 3 is newer and more enjoyable

As for your original question, it depends on the person. Red Alert is your standard RTS experience with base building strategic options, while C&C 4's only real gameplay is its units and combat. I prefer Red Alert.

The recourse collecting, strategic building your base and trying to save your units is no more.
It's a total different game. Fun it is own way.
But not the game you want if you search a new C&C.
RA4 would be welcomed, though.
