Rome: Total War

Rome: Total War

Everyone with "Failed to find Steam" Error, look here.
For some unfathomable reason, steam.dll is not included in the files folder for rome total war.
This is an easy fix, just copy Steam.dll from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam" and paste it into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold"

Note: If you're using a 32 bit OS, ignore the (x86) and just go to program files.

This fix should work until and unless they have the sense to include it in the download.

Very strange indeed. I didn't have this problem until the -second- time I tried running the game. The first time, the game worked fine for 2 hours until it crashed during a loading screen. At the time I passed it off as problems with trying to run an old game on 7. Perhaps steam.dll got deleted somehow. If Steam reads these, I hope that helps.

Try marking it, once you move it, as read only.

Some games, particularly older games, assume that the steam path has been added to your computer's Environment Variables so they rely on the EV to find steam.dll. If you want to save space instead of copying steam.dll to different folders for different games you could just add your steam path to the EV and all games will find steam.dll in future.
