Bull warriors OP?
I noticed something about bull warriors while fighting Spain yesterday. The bull warriors are fairly OP I was fighting 3 bull warrior units with 5 legion cohorts + my general and they still didn't die...

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but its pretty annoying seeing as I have pretty much lose every battle against Spain if they have more than 3 bull warriors :/.

not against heavy pikemen they get torn to peices. as rome i would say get a bunch of hoplite mercs, archers and hit them with heavy cav in the rear

Well the OP is playing Rome indeed, but saying a particular unit is OP just because he cannot beat them with Roman Legionary cohorts is not fair either. I think it does need more skill to win as against this type of unit. Simply storming them is not a good idea.

How can you have a problem withe Bull warriors if you have legioners, you mean not early leg but Leagionery. How can you even get them I have qonquerd the betire map withe out getting them and yeah I buidl all the imprvement population stuff. Maybe if you get ebaten it can have something withe teh Exp on the bulls. When they have more then silver even a peasent or a warband can be deadly.

I don't know, I'm not pro at this either so I don't know tactics and unit counters etc so I can't control half the map before I unlock legions

bull warriors are powerfull but rare to face in battle.
The AI rarely builds optimal stacks, nor does it build full stacks, so usually even IF they have them, you will have the bigger numbers and still win.
(drafting a couple mercenary's so you will have 2 stacks against their 1 also helps..)

but if you want to utilise the weak spot of bull warriors : they are not that fast, and they have hardly any armour (making them VERY sensetative to any form of missile weapon)

any fast moving ranged unit.. (aucelairie calvery, war chariots, etc) should be able to nail them with ease.

the tactic when fighring against them is : keep out of melee range.. and trow stuff at them, till they all are dead.

if they are part of a bigger army... look where they are atacking... nothing can face them.. but they seem to have a rather low speed of hitting (thought 1 hit = 1 kill) so it can be wise to use cannon-fodder alike units against them.
(if you have peasants or something like that, send them agsint them.. this will force them oin one place... for a while... freeing your more valueble units to be elsewhere on the battlefield.

if you face them with legions, your swords aint going to do anything against them.. however your pilii will. be sure to make them trow those towards any bullfighters in the other army.
one full legion throwing it's 2 pilii per soldier towards the much smaller bull warrior army will if placed right decimate it.

Your forgeting that bull warrioirs are terrible close quarter fighters, they are elite I know but it´s just the pila, I think it`s stronger then legioners but they have atleast 6 minus in defence stats and equal attack stats use meatshields.

you can just harras them with any form of skimishers.
archers using fire is effective since it both frightens them and will make a dent in their numbers.

another option is just hitting them with heaviest calvary you have.

aim for their general, if they have none aim for the captain FIRST. after you kill him ram some horses into their squads from behind and gg. bullwarrios are taken out by range (like 6-8 archer units OR by demotivating them by killing the captain and flank them afterwards.

They are very much like Thracian Bastarnae infantry. With 2 Hit Points it's not a good idea to fight them straight on. As Romans you should try to form some sort of flanking maneuver and shower them with pilas and then closing in with Heavy Infantry on front and Heavy Cavalry from the rear. In other words, don't fight them in the situation and the environment they want you to. Spain is very weak to cavalry in general since they lack good spearmen and good cavalry of their own.
