Rome: Total War

Cheats Don't Work
How do I use the cheats for the very first Rome Total War game? I opened the console and entered one, but it only accepts one code, every time I enter another one, or the same one again, it says "err command not recognised use ? for help". I even tried "?" but it still gave me the error message. I looked online and someone said you have to restart the game every time you want to enter another code. I can do that, but it's going to be a pain, especially with how long it takes to load.

I restarted the game and tried the code 'add_money "40000"', it accepted the code, but nothing happened, so I tried entering it again and get the error. This is pissing me off. I want to be able to cheat, but I can't. Could this be a problem with my operating system? It worked perfectly on my old Windows XP laptop, but it does this on both my Windows 8 laptops.

Open the condole.

The command is:-

add_money 40000

I know that, I've done it several times, though the maximum it can give is 20000. I want to know how to use multiple cheats without restarting the game, like I used to.

Are you using the Steam version of Rome Total War? Have you verified the games cache?

If the answer to both questions is yes then there is no reason I know of why your installation of Rome Total War is not working properly.

You do realize add_money also adds to every faction? LOL

No it is not the steam version, I already have the game, so I see no reason to buy it again.

I don't care about that, I just get the money to increase buildings and armies to make campaign battles more interesting for me.

If it is the disk version, what version number is it? I think the latest version for Rome Total War Gold is v1.5.

If I remember correctly, you should be able to add your disk version to Steam without buying the game again. Whether or not that would bring its own problems I cannot tell.

It's not the gold edition, the version number is 1.0.0.0. As far as I know, it cannot be added to steam.

Disk version CD Key will activate on Steam. It may or may not add Barbarian Invasion though it will download it. If this happens contact Steam Support and exlain and they will activate your Barbarian Invasion. If the serial key does not work, contact Steam Support and they will add your key for you if it is valid.

Both versions report the same because Steam did not update the display in its final patch. If you have an Intel CPU, stay with the disks as Intel and the last steam patch has issues.

I agree with HazardHawk. If your version of Rome: Total War is only 1.0.0.0, then you don't have a single patch. I would understand if you had 1.3, but 1.0? That version shouldn't even have Barbarian Invasion with it.

Do as HazardHawk says, you should get an updated Rome: Total War 1.5 or 1.51 (either will work), and you're cheats should function perfectly.
