How do I install Rome Total Realism?
I am attempting to install Rome Total Realism 7, v1.9. I have the zipped file, how do I connect it to steam and Rome Total War so that I can play it? I am not exactly great with computers, so I may have missed something simple. Could you give me a step by step on how to get it working?

I am also having trouble running with the mod.... I placed it in different folders and it states that it can't find steam.... at other locations it says I don't have Barbarian Invasion... I have no idea how to proceed.... was going to start a thread when I saw this one.

I hopw someone has experience with running the mod and can advise us.

Hi guys. I have returned to play RTR VII but as the first time i have a problem but i am not able to solve it regardles the method posted above. I bought it from steam and running win 10. Meaning that i could run RTW and BI by changing the preferences inside steam. But when i try to run RTR VII i get this message: "you dont have the correct version of barbarian invasion...".
Could someone help me?

Yes that very same thing happens to me, under win 10 i found that adding " -ne -nm" to properties allows RTW to start without any direct x issues. But to run RTR VII they say i have to put another line to properties making the screen to "blinc" and change very fast between different resolutions (because of direct x 11.1 in win 10 is not compatible). Yesterday i found another line to try in properties but this time only RTW starts or BI making imposible to play the mod... any ideas under Win 10 on how to start RTR VII? :(

Hi there Triarii.

Yes it is over a year now but lastly i could make it work in win 10 after a few tries. For me the issue was messing up the files with those of the last update to that date, i was doing it wrongly. But a few days latter i got it to run using instructions for the Steam version.
Thank for the input.
Taken directly from the TWcenter.net forums:

"If using the Steam version of the game follow the directions below-

Run the RTR VII installer like normal, changing the install path to xxxx/steam/steamapps/common/rome total war gold
Ignore the launcher and short-cut prompts, they won't work
Open Steam, right-click on Rome: Total War Gold in the My Games menu
Select Properties
Under the General tab select Set launch options ...
Type in -mod:RTRVII -show_err -nm without quotations and click OK
Launch Rome: Total War Gold by double-clicking it in the My Games menu
Select Barbarian Invasion from the two-choice list and Launch."

^^This does NOT work! On Windows 10, 7 or anything else.
Typing in: -mod:RTRVII -show_err -nm
does not actually do anything...
