Help needed, from experienced modder(s). Working with Europa Barbarorum and Barbarian Invasion.

Hello there. Like a lot of us here on steam, I have Rome: Total War Gold that comes with Barbarian Invasion.

I'm trying to get a mod, Europa Barbarorum, to run via Barbarian Invasion, using both it's native installs: http://www.europabarbarorum.com/downloads_mod.html and also this patch, which is supposed to get it working via BI. http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?95664-New-installer-for-Europa-Barbarorum-with-Barbarian-Invasion

It seems nothing I do can make it work right. Specifically, Barbarian Invasion's unit abilities, (Shieldwall, etc.) don't seem to work, even though I make sure I'm running it through the BI engine, (or so I think, even when I minimize it, the icon is of BI and not RTW).


So for anyone familiar with modding, perhaps on the rarest chance that anyone would be familiar with working with EB, or any other mods that work through BI, is there some way to enforce/ensure the mod runs through it properly?

Hi Janas. I have the same issue, and trying to fix it. I read that Logan Dudley was making a video/tutorial about it. did you get it?
One more IMPORTANT issue: when you moved the folder to desktop, did you open the game via steam, or via folder's icon? it is important, because i noticed that, if you open BI via Steam, it works. BUT, if you use the RTW-BI icon in the 'desktop' folder (and even in the steamapps/common folder) , it DOES NOT START BI, but instead, a normal RTW game. it then sounds very strange to me, and it seems can be an important occurring issue

I always wanted attention from moders but couldnt find attention from a single one.
So now that I have someone attention: is it possible to decreasse the distance from capital issue? Like lm playing with Numidia and l have to conquer Egypt and l get some 80% penallty.

This is crazy, is there any way to lower it???

I think you can change which city is your capital.. that MIGHT help a tiny bit. Otherwise, I honestly don't know how it can be helped. A huge garrison would probably prevent outright rebellion.. RTW has native issues we'll never be able to fix, like the overpopulation and resulting squalor.

I got it working again, some time ago. I don't know how exactly, but I updated my installers to newer versions I had and that seemed to work. I think I was using corrupted version of my installer files, because in the past I had tried installing it many many many times and I guess the files I ended up saving as my installers, (since I have mods too, just a few small ones), were probably a little screwy. I always tend to do that with complicated mods in case they stopped working, or if I just wanted to uninstall and re-install again.
