Then a box pops up saying i need Direct X 9 in order to run in so i go to download direct X 9 but it says i have to have like pretty much every windows except for windows 10. Can anyone help me solve this problem? Thanks :D

Sorry to hear that.... I suggest you try Steam Support (click "Help" in the top lefthand area of this Steam page, and then when the menu opens, click on "Steam Support").

I also suggest you search the official technical support forum for Total War Eras games (including Barbarian Invasion), and if you don't find your answer there, then I suggest you start a new thread there:

im having the sme problem but my rome wont work, maybe it has to do with windows 10
You have two choices for making it work and I honestly suggest performing BOTH to avoid another error later!

First, browse into Rome folder, open the preferences folder, scroll down until you see resolutions, just above this is AA_QUALITY: set as AA_LOW, AA_HIGH. Make sure you set it to AA_OFF.

Second, back up to your Rome folder one level up from Preferences where the exe files are located. Leave this window open. Open C drive, windows folder, the system32 folder, scroll down and find the d3dx9_XX.dll (XX represents numbers from 20 something to 40 something), drag a box, right click, select copy (do not drag and drop!), go back to Rome Window and right click to select paste.

That will fix your directX issues.
