Rome: Total War

Rome: Total War

Is there a community patch or mod that fixes Barbarian Invasion?
I never really played Barbarian Invasion much because it seems like such a cheap rush job.
Most units look ugly compared to the base game's units, and some even have bugged skins that never got fixed.

And sure there's big overhaul mods, but I don't want that. I'd want to play barbarian invasion more close to vanilla, but fixed.
Maybe with some extra units for factions since most have small rosters, but keeping close to the vanilla feel. Units could be improved some to be on par with Rome total war quality.

Check at TWCenter.net. Part of GreenEyedDevil's server is down (probably until the weekend as he has a day job) so you cannot download right now, but if you find the name you can likely find a source at moddb where it is hosted for download. Swiss Halbredier (sp?) MAY have a UNITS pack for it.

Yes, it is a little rushed and broken. It was the FIRST Creative Assembly made Total War game just after they purchased Atari and integrated Atari into Creative Assembly. Religion is a little broken and confusing. I think there is a clean up mod making that part some better at TWCenter.net also or there was if it hasnt been removed and lost. If you cannot find anything, let me know with a comment here and I will dig out my homemade mod storage disk and see if I have anything.

hey,

never heard of that atari thing, were you part of them or CA?

Anyway that would kinda explain the steady downgrade (in terms of immersion/quality) of realtime battles imo, in B.I. its just the unitbalancing, Med2 already felt different but still based on rome. Nowadays you have ♥♥♥♥ tons of unitbars on your screen and much more bad things.

Once upon a time, the gaming community was not very large. I have done freelance work way back when with both Blizzard (Starcraft) and THQ (Warhammer 40,000) which is why I am so familiar with the older community. I was also one of the original Rome modders. Also did some freelance with Microsoft and was part of the old Planet AMD64 original crew building the first 64 bit drivers for XP Pro X64 when it first came out with the first release of 64 bit chips. Hee hee, I am OLD dude!
