My.keyboard.got.soaked.last.night.and.space.bar.is.not.working.

No.Key.required.on.steam.It.is.internally.activated.

Click.play.for.rome.and.you.get.a.choice.between.rome.and.Bi.
The choice doesn't come up? It goes straigth into Rome. Im sorry to hear about your keyboard.
Thank you, have new keyboard now. Different size so I am making more typos than usual for the moment! LOL

First, go into your steam folder all the way to Rome and make sure there is a bi.exe present. If it is there, try adding -nm to your launch options and see if that doesnt pick it up. If it is not present, then that is a steam issue.

Oh, and if you added any mods, depending on if it is a folder mod or global mod this will cause that also because BI uses Rome files as well as BI folder files
Yeah bigger the keyboard the bigger the typos :']

I am operation on a windows 8 and i'm still getting used to it so it might take a whie for me to find the folder. What do you mean add -nm?
Okay, I found the launcher but it failed to find steam
Windows 8 or 8.1? If windows 8 I am surprised you are loading at all! Windows 8 would also explain why you are missing the command line switch that allows both. You will get better performance with all your games upgrading to the free 8.1 and running windows update to grab the fixes for older games.

For adding launch options, simply right click your game title and select properties. On that window that opens there is a button to set launch options, just click it and add the line then select ok and try starting
yes, rome and BI are not directly registered in steam and it uses a command line switch that is embedded. so the exe files will not find steam
I'm just going to look at what version it is. Plus, I am not finding the option to select the launcher.
what does that?
You must use the games list to start rome or BI. that is all that really matters for you. just keep in mind, if you are running only windows 8, you are one of the exceptions that it runs at all. I could not even get it to run on plain windows 8 and I am an old time modder. If you want toi use a shortcut or the direct exe file, you need a modded exe file without copy protection.

I can give you all the if and then you want, but I cant help you with windows 8 and running this game, only windows 7 or 8.1.
I looked and I am running on windows 8.1.
Alrighty then, let us slow down for a second. I am usually around, but I sometimes spend time playing games more than being on the forums. I am a disasbled veteran trying to walk a few more steps than I am currently able so I am often away as well. This will be much easier if you wish to add me to friends and message me when you are around.

Before you do, go to your games list. Right click Rome: TOTAL WAR and select properties. A Steam window will pop open. Towards the bottom there are two buttons. One says "Set Launch Options". Click this button and another window will pop open even smaller. Type in

-nm

Click ok, click close. select play game and see if you go into Rome or get a small Steam window that lets you select Rome as one option and Barbarian Invasion as the other where you haved to also select to continue as well.

If that doesnt work for you, message me and I will see if we can find what is wrong, but I think it is going to be a Steam error rather than game error and I cant support steam as I dont know their code. You will have to message steam support for that.
