I cant load into my save for the imperial campaign. when i click on it it loads and when the bar is full it just returns me to the menu. I can load into the last autosave for it but thats about 30 mins earlier than my save

I'm guessing if your auto save is 30 mins earlier than the save, your game and save file were corrupted. Auto save is supposed to happen every turn, and if the game didn't auto save for at least 30 minutes, I suggest verifying your game files or backup the save file and re-install the game.

Open up your Steam>Library>right click Rome Total War>Properties>Local Files>Verify Integrity of Game Files. It will run a test and if there are missing files will update your game.

If the solutions didn't work, as I said the save file might be corrupted. Your best bet is to try reloading the auto save. Check if the game auto saves every turn. If it doesn't, I would suggest you to start a new game, or save your other game every turn.

When you get a corrupted game file that is replaced, saves often do not work because the information trying to load doesnt match.

This isa neat little app tool which monitors your hard drives for errors and lets you know before they get really bad they are going bad. It gives error rates and many more details most users do not need, want, or understand, but it is a very reliable tool.

Also, I suggest you to file explorer where you see your hard drives, right click your hard drives, select properties, go to the tools tab, and check for errors. Even if it says it doesnt find any, it refreshes the catalog and file locations which help prevent read/write errors.
