How do you get Roma Surrectum 3.1 to work??

Recently they uploaded a standalone version of 3.1 so I downloaded it and I followed all the instructions to play with the steam version. I get a crash in the loading screen after the screen where you choose the difficulty, advisor, following AI etc, just before starting to play. It loads like 10% and crashes to desktop without any errors. I tried deleting everything and uninstalling both RTW and RTW Alexander, but the same issue persists. I posted about it in the TWC mod forum and also on their ModDB page, but I get no replies. Help?

Hell I even tried to find the non-steam version of the game online, but the installation is a nightmare and doesn't work. How tf do you get this mod to work with this game?

So, I was having the exact same problem. The only solution that worked for me was to not use the new standalone version. Just dowload the separate files: first RS 2.5, then RS 3 setup, then 3.1 patch. Follow PRECISELY the instructions of the video and it should work.
