Bad Fps on high end computer
I am constantly getting 30-40 fps while on a high end PC, does anyone else have this problem?

I noticed this same issue so I went and found the RomeTW.exe (../SteamGames/steamapps/common/Rome Total War Gold) and enabled compatibility mode for Windows 7. It seems to have fixed my problem with low FPS.

Can't guarnetee it'll work for you but it's worth a shot.

This is most likely something of a compatibility issue. Rome is a VERY old game, so it actually runs WORSE on newer computers....

....yeah....

The game used to run really buggly slow but my friend told me that where it's a really old game it runs with only one core and newer computers run 2 and my friend showed me a website for putting in a file for it to make the game think you only have 1 core and it works great for me since I used it

if you revert to the disk version of the game (1.5) that comes with the rome total war gold edition, it fixes the fps, but will not allow you to play multiplayer.

Just get a rtw crack which is v1.5 and you should just replace the steam rometw.exe with it and your set!

What fixed it for me was running the game in borderless windowed mode. Put -ne in the launch settings. There's also a dx8 ddl you can put in the rome total war folder which might help - have a search for it

Where's the option for changing the video settings?

I had a FPS issue, (not like yours my acceptable is around 30/40 fps) but it was dropping down to 10/15 fps during big battles, what fixed it for me was changing the resoloution from 1900x1080 down to 1080 x 768 (note I can run Medieval 2 and Empire/Napoleon in 1900x1080 with minimal fps drop with highest on Med2 and high on Empire/Napoleon not the case for Rome Total War) if FPS is the issue I'd recommend turning resolution down and check if that fixes it
