Same here. Wondering if it could have to do with the recent steam update. I played the game yesterday no problem, but today it wont start.

This worked for me. Go to game in library, right click and go to properties, then local files, and then verify the integrity of game files.

So I did 2 things. First I copied steam.dll from C:program files x86/steam into C:/program files x86/steam/steamapps/common/total war. Then I run total war from steam, go to task manager, find total war in processes and end the process, then relaunch. It's a bit of a faff but it got total war running

okay i got it running as well but the game now takes loads of time to boot...i verified the game files via steam then i disabled steam VR and ran it as administrator...it should work for you but it seems that the recent steam updates have messed up the other older total war games( i mean medieval and shogun)...

Close the Rome Total War process and then restart the game.

If that fails, close the Rundll process and reopen game.

^ Why not just walk us through it?

This is at least two threads you've been asking for adds from complete strangers Major. But you refuse to do the walk through in the thread. That seem suspicious. If you have a walk through, please share it here.

haaske91 go to your steam library right click on total war and select properties...then uncheck the 2 boxes that are in the general tab the steam overlay and the game vr...also go to c:/program flies(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/total war/ and right click on total war exe go properties combatibilty and check the box "run as administrator" this should work
