Rome: Total War

Rome: Total War

Barbarian Invasion shortcut?
So, to put it bluntly, I hate Steam. If I wasn't forced to use it for games like the Total War series, I wouldn't. In that vein, I'm trying to make a shortcut for Barbarian Invasion so I don't have to open the store every time I wanna play my damn game :steamsad:and it's only loading the original Rome: Total War. I've tried setting the target as

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Rome Total War Gold\RomeTW-BI.exe" --features.mod=mods/bi

or as

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Rome Total War Gold\RomeTW-BI.exe" --features.mod=mods\bi

or as

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Rome Total War Gold\RomeTW-BI.exe" --features.mod=bi

and nothing has worked and at this point I'm getting seriously pissed off. I literally just want to create a desktop shortcut, and for whatever reason it won't register that I wanna play BI no matter what I type under the "target" in shortcut properties.

Any and all help is appreciated, and thank you for your time.

I have seen your comment. The problem is not Steam. Unfortunately, you are using the wrong file format to create the shortcut. Sega uses the Application File Format (RomeTW-BI.Application) instead of the Execute File Format to launch their games.

The fastest way to create a shortcut is to open the Rome Total War Gold folder. You will see below the folders for the game is the RomeTW and RomeTW-BI (file type Application). Left click on the RomeTW-BI once to highlight and then right click the application file to open the file window with the Create Shortcut command. After you create the shortcut in the folder, just move the shortcut to where you want to access the game.
Hey, thanks for your comment.

Unfortunately, I tried that, and it only opens the original Rome Total War.

You do need to open exactly Store. All normal users set Library as hmoepgage.

I go to library and right click on Rome TW and get the option of playing BI. But it's buggy as it doesn't always start while running in the background so I have to task manager --> end process. Quit steam and restart steam and the game...
