How to unlock factions in BI and in rome total war

You got to your Rome folder (go to the game on steam --> right click --> properties --> browse local files) Then go to data --> world --> maps --> campaign --> imperial_campaign --> then doublle click the folder called ''Descr_strat'' right at the beginning you'll see the factions that are playable - unlockable - non-playable you can copy-paste the factions you want to play in the ''playable'' tab (if you copy-pasted them then delete them from the tab they were in before after you put them in the ''playable'' tab) you can do this with all the factions even the non-playable (If you play as SPQR or the Rebels NEVER open the faction summary as your game will crash during the campaign apart from that they're all fine) this is for Rome Total War. For BI you have to go to your ''Rome Wotal War: Gold Edition'' (same as before), select ''BI'' and then follow the same steps as you did with the regulary Rome Total War.

I meant unlocking them the legit way through campaign if possible

Aha, you unlock a faction once you've completely destroyed the factions in one of your campaigns. If you want to play the Non-playable ones as well you'll have to copy-paste those into your unlockable tab to be able to unlock them

Indeed some factions cannot be unlocked without editing the files. I think this includes Numidia, Dacia, Macedon, Slaves/rebels, SPQR and I have a feeling Pontus? Not too sure about Pontus but the others are definitely not possible to unlock without desc_strat. Don't think of it as cheating. They created all these factions and then for some completely arbitrary reason went "meh won't let players play with them" I mean what the ♥♥♥♥.
