Rome: Total War

Rome: Total War

How can i add existing units to a faction on the campaing. [SOLVED]
Thanks to the guide ''The Wiker Skeever'' posted i managed to make my own unit by stealing the stats, desc, and unit card from other cav units.

I would like to play as the Britons, but i realy dont like that they only have chariots and only slingers as their long range.
I would like to give them the Tier 1 barb cav, the tier 2 barb noble cav and the archer warband.
I have looked up online and found an forum describing how to accomplish this

http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?41751-How-to-add-new-units-to-other-fraction

However i run into 2 problems.

1. The unit doesnt have a unit card, the units will have a generic barb peasent unit card.
This isnt a big deal since the units are availeble to Britons and the stats work fine.
But this in custum battle.

When i try to add these units to the cav barracks and the archer to the archer barracks for the campaing my game wont start, at all.
Black screen for a few sec and then back to desktop.
As far i know i correctly added the units to the buildings.

Hopedully some of you might know the problem or a better way to add existing units to other factions on the campaing.
Thanks in advance!

Looks like game won't allow you to do that changes. Sometimes you must obey the rules m8 ^^.
Btw I dont know any fixes. You can try putting lots of units in 1 city so you dont need to train them.

This is a common problem on a lot of professional mods as well. A lot of cavalry units have a barbarian peasant unit card :/ I did run across a small mod once that allowed you to have cavalry rather than chariot generals. Not sure if that would be of interest to you? I personally bloody hate having chariots.

The thing is that it should be possible, there are mods out there adding entire new factions and units in, so it should be possible to add existing units to an factions unit rooster in the campaing.

The unit icon isnt the main problem, the fact i cant enable the units to the campaing is what annoys me.
I always wanted to play as brits once, but i hate having only chariots, slingers and inf.
Having my general bodygaurds be standard would also be nice, so you can leave the link here
Thanks for the response!

or you could use an existing faction's barbarian cavalry unit card file but "save as" it with a new name and link that to your british cavalry unit.. i'm really not good at the graphical side of fiddling with stuff but i bet there's something at the TWcentre suggesting what program to use to edit unit cards.

This might be useful. Better save the link.
