Rome: Total War

Mouse too fast
So I just returned to this venerable game after a long time in hibernation, and as soon as I got into the campaign map, my mouse moves extremely fast.

As in, I move my mouse a milimeter and the cursor moves all the way across the screen.

This makes the game completely unplayable by any standard, and that's sad for such a wonderful game.

I've tried changing the mouse softwares settings, and well as the settings in the control panel, nothing seems to help.

I'm using a Mission SG GGM 3.2 mouse, Windows 7 SP1 x64, Geforce GTX 960, Intel i5 6400@2.7GHz, if that helps.

i have the same problem, but have no idea how to fix it. perhaps lowering the resolution?

This sounds very strange indeed. If you've tweaked ingame settings, external mouse settings and DPI I'm not sure what to suggest other than trying another mouse perhaps. One good thing about turn-based strategy games is you don't need some high-octane gaming mouse with 8 buttons. If you have something old lying around or can get the most basic of mice that could be worth a try. I had this issue running the original Shogun Total War on a modern computer a few years ago and it seemed to fix itself by plugging in a prehistoric 2-button fossil.

If your mouse isn't wireless. then I would say just unplug it and replug it.

Turns out, it was the DPI that was way too high. Couldn't find the setting in the mouse software before making this thread, then found it, problem solved.
Thanks for the help though, I finally get to crush those puny Romans beneath the feet of my unstoppable wall of Carthaginian elephants!

Using an old mouse did the trick. Whereas lowering DPI on my so-called gaming mouse didn't make much difference at all.
