Which is better Puzzle Quest 1 or 2 ?
I know they're both on sale, but if I'm only going to get 1 should I get #1 or 2 ?

Right now I LIKE that PQ2 has achievements, but PQ1 has much lower system requirements so I could play it on my netbook. I do have a desktop that'll play #2 fine, so I'm really curious as to which is the better game.

Did #2 improve alot on #1 ? If so I'm good with only playing at home, but if #1 was just as good or better than #2 I'd go for the "more flexible option" (especially since they both support cloud sync).

Thoughts / suggestions ?
thanks.

I like/enjoy/love this one more than PQ1 - some peeps might disagree but it all comes down to personal taste :hee: Oh and I have been playing this on a netbook and it runs perfectly.

The second one is more of a dungeon adventure... where you have to walk around to find quests. The first felt more like an RPG. Some prefer one over the other. They are both fun in my opinion... but I only played part 2 on STEAM. I played part 1 on the DS, so not sure how much different it is on PC.

I enjoy 1 more

I think it comes down to personal preference. I enjoy both immensely myself. The 1st is definitely more RPG and I think gives the player more freedom to create a custom character - more strategy and options.

However the 2nd has more polish and is more user friendly. Many little details create a presentation that seems more enjoyable than the 1st.

Hopefully that helps.

PQ: Challenge of Warlords is much better, imo, it's must play game. But I don''t mean PQ2 is bad, it's good, just PQ1 is aweosme and not many games are.

So far I like both (PQ2 on PC, PQ1 on PSP). However, PQ1 on Steam does not have Revenge of the Plague Lord dlc. This is why I'll consider getting it for PS3 instead if it goes on sale (a slim chance). I think there exists an unofficial RotPL patch for PC, though. I remember seeing a thread for it on Steam.

I think that might be the deciding factor. If they are both pretty good and will both play on my netbook, I'll probably start with #2 since it has achievements and is currently cheaper.

Thanks all!

I played both games and a I like PQ2 more. PQ2 is a mixture of a dungeon crawler and a puzzle game, which I like very much. And PQ2 is more Steam "friendly". :)

I remember playing more on an overworld in PQ1, and PQ2 is more dungeon (as someone stated above). If I remember correctly you can actually use your equipped weapons in PQ2, but it's been years since I've played PQ1 so I could be wrong.

I think that PQ2 did expand a bit on aspects of the game, and I remember PQ1 getting far too easy to kill everything at the endgame. They are not story related, so you can get either one and just jump in. I also like achievements.

I think that PQ is a great game to just open up and kill time, so if you want that "feature" I would get PQ1 for your portable. Otherwise I would ask which you like more, the dungeon crawling or the more classic RPG type of game (with PQ2 being the crawler, and PQ1 being "classic").

Personally, I kind of enjoy PQ1 a bit more. I played it on my Xbox 360 and play PQ 2 on steam. Yeah, I do love the gaming experience on steam but as to the game itself, PQ1 grants me more freedom that I can explore on the map while PQ2 is more like always "following the arrow." Still, PQ 2 is a good game ~!

First one is much, much more fun.

I also like the first one better on some aspects but I do like the weapon upgrading in the 2nd one.

If you enjoyed one, then the odds are quite good you will also enjoy the other. There are substantial differences between PQ1 and PQ2, and as the posters above intelligently explained it is not mere grognardism to prefer 1 over 2.

The thing I like best about Puzzle Quest 2 as compared to the original is the lack of straight-up cheater AI. More varied tile sets make "spam match-4 until you effing die" matches much much less common.

I prefer the number 1.

I prefer 1, only because you can have a quick go if you want. The animations in 2 just frustrate me cause they take too long! (unless there's a method of turning them off and I am just noob?)
