Unable top connect to server??

Me and a friend are trying to play online with each other again after he bought me all the dlc in the sale. Every time we try and join each others games it just comes up saying unable to connect to server. We've turned off steam cloud, we've tried multiple different launcher options, we've even tried the public beta. We're both running the same version, no mods. We've disabled firewalls, and still we can't connect to any online games.

Looking online this is an old issue that still hasn't been fixed, and I can't find a workaround. Does anyone know how to make this game work, or is it wasted money in my library?

I'll ask a couple of questions and you might want to do this for your friend as well:

Have you played with your friend before and it has stopped working recently or have you never managed to connect in the first place?

Can you connect to any other lobbies or do you even see them?

Did you maybe crash while playing online and it stopped working after that?

If all of this doesn't work/you don't want to bother you can still connect via LAN but you need some external program to link you, like Hamachi/Radmin/etc.

So, I can connect to other servers, but my friend can't, suggesting to me that the problem is on his end. He's going to try reinstalling when he's next on, though just before he came off today when trying to join a random server he got some kind of runtime error.

The problem is on his end.

Reinstalling shouldnt be necessary, but I would advise to check his installation folder for some crash files ( minidump files, .mdmp extension), they would look like this.

They have caused issues in the past when connecting to games so you can freely delete them (they are just crash files, deleting them wont break the game)

Make sure he doesn't use any VPN, virtual LAN software installed on his computer. You cannot change the active network adapter you use in Titan quest, so if it's interfering then that could be the issue.

He can check in Control Panel - > Network and Internet -> Network connections
Nothing should be enabled except his Ethernet

He's deleted all the crash files, and from what we can tell he only has the one internet connection available. This is really pissing us off as we used to love playing this game together

Tell your friend to verify the game files via Steam. Also what kind of runtime error was he encountering when trying to join other servers?
