Breakdown of Neidan mastery?
I like running builds through normal, I have a powerful Spellbreaker, Brigand etc but would like to try out Neidan.

Any hints or guides on how Neidan builds typically branch out. Which skills one should focus on etc.

Thanks

According to Kerplunk Gaming on Youtube, one of the best skills for early levelling is Dragon's Breath. Later on, once its synergy Echoes of the Ancestors becomes available, you can respect the points, except one, from it into them. Shen Pao might also be worth considering.
Huangdi's Favor is the LMB. Consequences good for its debuff I think. There's a couple of passive buffs that are worth picking up. Not a huge fan of the Terracotta Servants summon, very glass cannon if I recall. Shen Pao for an RMB AOE. Weakest Chakra is good but at end of tree.

Aura of Tranquility is probably the most powerful defensive buff in game but incredibly energy draining so almost requires you to use a Stew of Eldhrimnir charm in your chest to reliably deal with the drain.

It pairs well with rune mastery for later game. I run one with Huangdi's Favor on LMB and Thunder Strike on RMB with Seal of Fate to cast. That is all offense needed. Aura of Tranquility is must have and allows me to tank with good armor. I get Terracotta Servants servants last when there is nowhere else for points. They last long enough as long as you other skills are good, but they definately do not tank for you. They are not really needed.

The top tier Neidan skill that debuffs resists is great but the recharge rate is too long for my liking even with 40-50 recharge reduction it would only apply to every 3rd or 4th mob. Its nice to have for boss kills and probably is a better investment the the Terracotta summons. I like managing my summons though so I go that route.

I use a shield that give 900 energy so didn't have to put any points in that.

Thanks btw what is the skill Inner Equilibrium? I see it mentioned in Neidan threads of the past but it seems it was nerfed or something

The effects go off as soon as you use a potion. Its worth maybe an extra point. If your build doesn't rely on attack speed then its not needed really. The increase in walking speed could be a QOL thing if you dont get that from boots and have points with nowhere else to out them.

No Idea. Try verifying your game files.

Make sure your game is up to date, files verified and you're not using a pirated version. Iirc they reworked that skill tree in one of the early EE patches and shifted some perks / effects around.

Should I be monk or contemplator

Of those 2, I prefer Comtemplator. Distort Reality to slow mobs. Nightmare is a good pet that can actually tank. Then you have resistance debuffs from both masteries.

But you would have to get your stun and trap resistances from equipment. Those are both critical. Defense mastery would have that with a skill of course.

Either way you need some decent armor to take a few hits. If you play as a caster, you could pump int, and then get enough dex to wear good dexterity req armor. Maybe 1 or 2 int based to balance resistances out and hopefully have some -recharge bonuses.

Playing either as melee would require the very elite types of armor and then you would go more str stats. Iv'e played Dream/Spirit as a hydrid melee and it works well, but it has awesome equip.
