Button presses or mouse clicks are often not registered
I just started playing TQ again since not having touched it since 2007. Bought 2 expansions and started a Runemaster build. But very often when I press the number button of an assigend skill, nothing is happening. I noticed this with other characters too. For example I have Rune of Life but I have to press the button like 10 times before the skill is finally executed / cast. But only sometimes. Sometimes it works like a charm and other times, I only hear a short audio notice and nothing is happening.
The same happened to other skills and other characters and I don't understand it at all.
It is not on cooldown. So what else could be the problem?

Also I noticed that very often when I click somewhere, nothing is happening. For example I lay down a portal stone, I click on it (and I see that it was correctly targeted because its name show up at top of the HUD) but nothing is happening. I have to move away and click again and repeat this 3-5 times before I can finally use the stone.

I mean, I don't even remember the controls being so bad, was it always like this or are these new bugs? Anyway, is there any way to improve the game? Fan-patches and the like?

I have started playing recently (determined to finish the whole game from 0 to legendary. im 100+ hrs on my Monk character doing Legendary Eternal Embers now) and noticed the same thing. I swaped my attack replacer to R-mouse button and L-mouse button is short colldown attack "Batter". I usually do a little pause and let go off the R-mouse button and then press the left one and after i see the effect i press 1, 2 etc. It's just how the game works. Definetly less fluid than Grim Dawn but i got used to it pretty quickly.

The portal stone is really hard to target yeah. When you place it and not move at all you simply can't use it even if you targeted it properly. After you move you can use it just fine but it is hard to target.

There are numerous other issues that i noticed like:
You can get stuck (and have to go back to main menu) on chests when you click the "chest name" text.
If you open a portal stone next to a barrel or something you can get stuck as well after you go back through the portal.

Sad, I really had hoped that they improved the anniversary edition. but thanks for letting me know.

ok, at least for the skill I found out that there is no "auto self target", even when playing in single player. so you can only execute the skill when the mouse cursor is OVER your character. really stupid game design

I think you can self buff if you target nothing as well (or you character portrait in the corner). Forgot to mention this: If you place your main attack to R-mouse button you don't have to target the enemy it auto snaps (or you can use Shift + attack button but that is annoying for long term play). But yeah it is kinda clukny. Im used to older clunky games and this actually feels pretty smooth compared to some other older titles :D

thanks, mapping it to RMB did help a bit. still it doesn't feel as snappy as Diablo but it is ok.

Have you verified the game files? I haven't seen reports of those issues lately, so I wonder if they can be fixed by doing that.

Just want to say, I also started playing recently and noticed all these issues. I don't remember the game being this way back in 2007, but maybe it was and I just forgot. :) Also it might be a resolution thing - back then I think I was playing in 1080p or maybe even 1024x768, and now I'm playing in 4K.

Basically it feels like the "click zone" on monsters, teleport stone, merchants, etc, is off by a bit vertically.

I also noticed the auto self cast thing too, but I DO believe I remember it being that way in the original game.

Not a total deal breaker but it can be annoying when you are swamped by monsters and not attacking because you "missed" even though your mouse was clearly over one of them when you clicked.

Exactly, I also thought it might be an issue with the resolution since I play in ultra-widescreen (3440x1440) and I remember the PS4 version suffered from similar issues with targeting in the beginning but it got patched. I only played up to Act 2 though on the PS4.

The auto target self would have been a QoL improvement, I guess it was like that in the original game.

Also my characters from 2007 (yep still got em) seem to be messed up. They don't have quests completed, but I can still start the game on Epic or Legendary but if I go back to normal, I can not access many parts since the game thinks I never done the campaign quests and some can be started but not all. Oh well, I wanted to start a new character anyway. :)

At least we can finally increase the game speed, the original was so slow. Best setting in the anniversary edition.

I also play at 3440x1440 but remeber having these issues on my 1080p monitor as well. It was one of the reasons i could not get in to the game. Now i just kinda learned to "respect it" :D

Yeah this is absolutely infuriating. Clicking on a tp or wp doesn't really work and I'd say this is a big defect. Surprised the development team let this sloppy coding slide into production.

You have to move away from it and before clicking on it, your mouse has to highlight it. If you click and you move your cursor just a bit it won't work. Try again.

Also moving between cave/dingeon levels doesn’t work often. You can get stuck at the top or bottom of the stairs of the next level.
