My Ritualist is currently on lvl 29 on the Silk Road. For now, pets just obliterate everything, but i know it will be a lot tougher once i reach tigerman/draconians.
My Ritualist is lvl 41 now, starting Epic difficulty. I'm still with 0 deaths, but i got some close calls in Acts 3 and 4, as expected (i was aiming for the less than 100 kills achievement too).
The pets should be stronger now, so i'm expecting an easy game for a little while. Just need to be careful to not draw too much atention, since i'm getting Plague which causes a lot of mob aggro.
i've started a run as warden (defense/hunting). this will be another high (crit) dmg build but i hope to be better protected with my shield; since i read that reflected dmg is blockable. i will definitely max my piercing resistance this time. iirc i've had a negative value in that resistance while i one-shot myself last time.
ps: playing as warden is annoying, since i miss a continuous standard attack (for the rmb). i have to left click every single enemy :-/ guess i will make use of the bow skill, yet again (as spear and shield user :D)
pps: umm, nevermind. i got me a nice workaround. i set up an on/off macro for leftclicking like crazy. i have to point my mouse at the desired enemy at all times now and looting is picky, if you get the drift ;D but it works fine for me. i also have an auto walk now, in addition. yay!
i like pet builds, but i think it's hard to get decend items for, if you haven't pre-farmed them already with other chars, no? long time ago, i had lots of fun as a summoner (nature/earth) but i could've pretty much played without pets, since the only reliable dmg came from my fire skills ^^ i think the biggest problem with pets is aoe dmg. areal dmg is not dodgeable and kills them off pretty fast. the other thing is time; it takes some for them to pull aggro, unless you start micromanagement via selecting them by yourself. but then again... it's worth it in a hardcore attempt plus the new game speed option is really complaisant. ^^
However, i'm trying combinations of masteries a bit out of the ordinary in Anniversary Edition.
I didn't farm for it, since i didn't import any of my old chars or items. But i started collecting rings and amulets with additional damage, and it helped a lot (i have a green puppetmaster amulet which gives +200 HP and +10% total speed to pets).
I also have now a artifact, gloves and boots that give +1 to nature skills (+3 to nature skills total), so having 3 wolves help a lot, and with Nightmare skill to boost pet damage and regen they somehow were more than enough to beat Normal.
I heard that pets get stronger in Epic and Legendary, so i just need to focus on getting high resists and use plague to help them and Briar Ward to protect me.
I'm thinking this will be a walk in the park until Act 3. And also, i've just found my first purple item, Chiron's Loop
so.. i decided to stay away from melee chars in hardcore. and started a nature/spirit pet-master. i was curious if it'd be a viable class - and - holy
after a start-up phase in act 1 i plain steamrolled act 2&3. act4 was pretty chewy, but no problem at all. killing hades was just mere formality. now i'm at epic difficulty, just rushing through all the areas with ease. it's simply a walk in the park - the playstyle is demanding tho.
i constantly have to do something, like healing, buffing, debuffing and kiting. i use refresh (decrease cooldown on all skills) as much as possible and summon my outsider whenever he's available. this build rocks and is so much fun to play !
stats are not important, besides to equip things; i don't attack myself, to stay agile. so i put 50 points in health , ~40 in INT and 5 in DEX, so far. i currently have ~5,7k life and neglect all the resistances (like -30 / -40). barmanu, a feared boss by lots of players, or let's say "respected" was a goner in about 3 seconds (on very fast setting - i don't ever turn it down, not even for bosses
Although there were some changes, mainly focused nerfing breakpoints and exploitable mechs, buffing monster HP and resists. Majority of the advice and strategies found there is still very much applicable to this version of TQ. Lot's of helpful people out there too.
If anyone needs specific advise on finishing Hardcore on specific classes feel free to message me. These are some of my successful Hardcore runs (pre-Annivesary) for referrence:
