Chang'an Ancient Forest gate bugged?

At first, I was able to open the gate as per the main quest line, but the game crashed... After restarting, the gate guard exclamation mark is greyed out and he continually just says "go ahead, open the gate". However, clicking on the gate still gives the message "gate locked". Seems like a quest trigger is broken in my game. Any way to fix this?

In Chang an some gates bug. Try to go multiplayer and find someone to do a teleporter gate for you inside the town, then unlock the town teleporter and respawn point.

I tried going back all the way through to the Yellow Emperor and talking to Feyjan and the gate keeper again, but it didn't help. I couldn't be bothered trying to set up some MP, so I went through the Levels_World_World01.map folder and found the last modified files. I took a guess which QUE file was related to the quest line and deleted it. After talking to the Yellow Emperor, Feyjan and the gate keeper again, I was able to open the gate. The quest markers were a little messed up (gate keeper wouldn't acknowledge the gate was now open), but everything seems to be okay. I probably wouldn't recommend doing this due to the risk of corrupting your game, but kudos to the developers for gracefully handling the kind of save game lobotomy I just performed... Hope it doesn't bite me in the ass later.

Seems like there is definately a bug with the gate leading to the Jinghe swamp, but that worked fine for me. The gate to the Ancient Forest, people seemed to be able to work out in most cases without the problem I was having.

The jinghe swamp gate seems to unlock once you reload the game, though I haven't tested it everytime it has bugged out.

(I did laugh the one time I got there, it was locked and I realised I had neglected to pick up the chang an teleporter though.)

That bug affected 80% of us 10 years ago, and we are now 3 patches into the AE edition and it still isn't fixed.

It probably never will be.

Just grab the TQDefiler and change your respawn point to the next fountain. (Forest of the Ancients 1, I think.) That'll plop you past the gate the next time you load the game.

Forget TQDefiler. Here's what you need to do. 1) When you come back to Chang'an for the second time, you will come in from below. Clear out all the baddies. 2) Create a portal and teleport into the city of Chang'an. 3) Find Faiyan and talk to him through all four dialogues. The bug here is: they forgot to program the exclamation point over his heard to turn yellow. Talk to him again. Once you do that, you should hear the trademark tom-tom drum-sound of advancing a quest -- but there is none (glitch.) 4) Now teleport back to your portal. 5) Come back up through the underside of Chang'an and find the locked Gate of the Forest of the Ancients. Click on the guard and he will tell you something like "See? i told you!" 6) Click on the gate. It will finally open! Enjoy finishing the game!

It has been 7 years, I'm playing Titan Quest HD on my Apple TV and loving it, and here I am discovering that the same bug exists and that your solution works a treat. thank you so much. It would be pretty disappointing to be unable to complete the game so close to the end.
