I love this game. What else should I check out?
I LOVE this game. I loved it back in the day when I had it on Impulse Driven and I love playing through it again. 39 hours and I'm just getting to Act 2.

My question here though is what else should I be checking out? I want another isometric game to play but I don't know what to get. I'm not really into the turn-based, team-based games like Baldur's Gate or Pillars of Eternity. I like turn-based games and squad based games, it's just not what I'm looking for. And I'm playing on the PC gaming equivalent of a toaster. I was considering getting the Humble Monthly bundle for October because it has Grim Dawn, but I am playing on a machine that doesn't even have a PCI-Express slot. So it's nothing but onboard graphics for the time being until I get the money together for another gaming rig.

I'm basically looking for a hack-and-slash, dungeon crawler, isometric that will run on just about anything and give me dozens of hours of gameplay. I want to be able to customize my character and so even if I could get them to run, I'm not really into the Van Helsing games or Victor Vran (which also won't really run on my toaster).

I've already checked through the store and done all manner of cross-referencing in regards to mixing and matching different tags like open world, loot, etcetera, and nothing is really jumping out at me.

Does anyone out there have a game like Titan Quest that they could recommend? I don't mind going old-school or going to GOG.com for the game, and I love indie games so that's not a problem either.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

EDIT: I'm kinda considering playing through the Torchlight games that I own and never really played. That's not nearly as much customization as Titan Quest has in terms of different classes and talent trees and whatnot, so I'm still looking to see what else is out there. I have 10 bucks in my Steam Wallet as well so something that came in under that would be perfect, but as long as it runs on my PC I'm willing to spend more.

as someone who has also loved titan quest for many years, I highyl recommend torchlight 2. As you say it's not as customizable and differs in other ways, but still is a lot of light hearted fun to play. Plus there is a fan made expansion pack called synergy mod which also adds heaps of classes and overhauls the game a hugely.
P.S it should run on a potato of a computer !

Well, you are on the right path. Grim Dawn is the spiritual sucsessor to Titan Quest and both Torchlight are on top of every action RPG list. The next obvious sugestion is the Diablo series. I mean, Diablo is the grandfather of all isometric action RPGs, so...definetly check it out. Diablo 2 was recently patched to run in modern machines.

Here is what I've got on my "Diablo-like" list on Steam:

Sacred Gold and Sacred 2: Picture Diablo meets Elder Scrolls... or, an open world Titan Quest.
Divine Divinity: Terrible name, quite enjoyable game. Picture Diablo meets Ultima 7.
Dungeon Siege 1 and 2: Picture Diablo with a large party and a mule. Played the first one when first came out and it was a pretty good game. Don't know how it holds up by today standards, but it's worth the shot. The second one is more of the same, the third one is a generic Gauntlet clone. Stay away from this one!
FATE: Pretty old, pretty ugly, haven't played, but it is on the list.
Darkstone: Ditto from above. I believe there is a free version on mobile too. It's the same as the PC version but with ads.

Now onto the more recent ones.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Whats up with these names? This one sounds like a saturday morning cartoon, but it a fairly decent action RPG. There are three games of this series right now.
Ember: New game, just released on Steam, also on mobile. Read quite the praises about this game.
Shadow Heretic Kingdoms: From what I've saw feels a littlw slow paced, but still, another hack'n slash with lots of loots.
Vikings Wolves of Midgar: If Titan Quest is Diablo with Greek mythology this is Diablo with Nordic mythology. I think it's still on early access
Wolcen Lords of Mayhem: Also in it's early stages, but looking promissing. Graphics are insane
Diablo 4/Diablo 3 Xpack: Nahh, just kidding. But the Diablo community is going crazy this year waiting for something big to happen. So, if you haven't got yourself into Diablo, now it's a good time to start!

Considering all the time spent hack and slashing and looting in these games this will pretty much make you set up for life. Enjoy!

I have Sacred 2 in my library, same with Darkstone. I think I picked them up in bundles and never noticed so thank you for that! I was trading with someone who was requesting the first Fate game, which was IMPOSSIBLE to search for, I ended up with hundreds of results with games containing the word "fate" when I went looking for it and never did find the game. I never even looked at what the game was like and that's really close to what I'm looking for.

Thank you very much for telling me about Vikings: Wolves of Midgar. That along with Wolcen both look beautiful, but I happen to know for a fact that Wolcen runs at 2 freaking frames per second on my potato even with everything possible set to low settings. It's a shame because they both look gorgeous and like they are a lot of fun. Vikings however just got set to number one on my wishlist and February 2017 seems like a reasonable goal for having a new PC.

Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms looks great too but those minimum requirements again are tripping me up. However there is a prequel called Kult: Heretic Kingdoms that came out in 2004. Now THAT I should be able to play, and apparenty I just missed a sale back in June where it was 1.49 USD. But then again, I'm a little worried about the mixed reviews for the Heretic Kingdoms games.

And Ember kinda turned me off when I saw that it was also on mobile, but maybe I should be more focused on how it's a game that has been in the making for about 10 years or so or whatever I read.

Thank you for such a great list. Definitely need to get that new rig built but I think I have enough options to kill the time until then.

Oh and I just recovered my password for Diablo 3. Need to get that installed and see what this potato can do!

Loki looks pretty cool. I like the fact that it's not standard fantasy and uses Nordic mythology. It's been pretty cheap before but I plan on getting it next time it's on sale.

I think you're right. I need to start playing Torchlight when I need a break from Titan Quest. I just spent an hour at least on that boss in the Athens Catacombs. Walking to the other side of the room, healing, then walking back over. So cheap but I'm on to Act II. :escapehappy:

@ProtagorasEmber

Try getting either Sacred or even Divine Divinity. I guess Sacred 2 is the best one of them, and since it's and old game should be pretty easy to run. The others are indeed a little heavy on the specs, but you can always do the trick of adding to your wishlist and leave there untill it's 75% off.

One last thing, don't look down on Ember. I know how these hybrid games tend to be (looking at you Crashlands), but from what I've read it's a pretty solid RPG even by PC standards, and should be easy to run while looking pretty.

Don't know, haven't played, but heard good things and might be good not to dismiss that fast!

the first Sacred - similar to TQ, but open world
dungeon siege 2 - probably the closests to TQ, but you control a party of 4-6, there are only 4 skill trees and you can combine them as you wish
torchlight - the first one is pretty much diablo 1.5
divine divinity
throne of darkness: dungeon siege in medieval Japan with diablo 1 graphics
revenant: more action-orientated - once learned, melee skills are a combo of keyboard keys and magic a combo of talismans

games I own that seem to be a little like what you want, but I haven't played yet:

Kinda looking at Chronicon but I don't know anyone who's played it. Looks kinda neat and it's EA which I like as well as looking like it would run on my machine.

How has nobody mentioned Path of Exile. It's Free to Play, has a HUGE amount of customization, and has a huge amount of different possible combinations of skills!

Shame on me! Path of Exile is another great exemple of Action RPG, and a well deserved of the title of "Diablo 2 successor"

Totally agree. Played a lot of DS2 prior to my steam life, tried lots of different race/class combos. When 3 came out on steam I got the bundle and played 3 for an hour before going back to 2. The voice acting can be a bit grating with some of the characters (imo anyway, I always want to push Deru off a cliff), and some of them have "interesting" personalities, but you have a choice of who to bring in your party. There are also some of my favourite dialogues pretty much ever (quite Bruno!) and some hilariously dreadful outfits. Seriously, it is worth getting just to put a half-giant in the golden eyesore that is the Lorethal's set. Or something (Dusk?) that hubby and I nicknamed "the stupid sexy Flanders" outfit, and only ever on Lothar, the others could not pull it off.

Compared to say TL2 which I tried to like and just couldn't get into. I finished a playthrough after taking a year or two break. TL2 was probably mechanically sound but lacking in the flavour which I thought DS2 had.

And +1 for Path of exile. it's a cool game.

Torchlight 2, Diablo 2 are the other two that have stood the test of time the same way Titan Quest has. Hopefully you can play Grim Dawn soon too.

Play Torchlight =) I enjoyed the first one quite a bit more than the 2nd. The 2nd has huge maps, but full of emptyness. First one is a dungeon crawler and it's great.
