Characters are stores on your PC, and then synced to steam cloud, not on a central server or something like that

thanks. guess nothing i can do now.

If you have steam cloud enabled I'd guess you had some sync issue with that - doubt anything can be done at this point.

steam cloud is messing up for me too at the moment

It's something I'm generally worried about with the Steam Cloud. It's why I usually turn it off for games and just run a script that backs up my local save files.

No choice..continue to grind.

There is a choice. TURN OFF STEAM CLOUD. Backup your own save files.

This is why you don't sync your save games.

Well what if you play this on two different PCs at different locations? It only syncs sporadically, on one PC it prompts me for upload to cloud or download from cloud, on the other unit I never had a prompt but it synched at times go figure.

TQ: AE Save files are very small. Two directories in my documents\my games

Burn it to CD-RW.
Zip it and email it to other computer.
Put on on a thumb drive.
Put it on an external drive.

All of these options are better then relying on the cloud saving feature. It is unreliable and slow. At least it is with this game. Be responsible for your own data. Period.

However must we have done that in the days before Steam..

Did you seriously think we just replayed the entire game if we used a different system or upgraded to a new computer?

You can just copy the content of C:\Users\[user]\Documents\My Games\Titan Quest - Immortal Throne\SaveData to any system you want to play on.

For the record, I play on four different systems. If you can't be bothered to lug a flashdrive around, just zip it and put it on Google Drive or Dropbox.

Try using Gamesave Manager, I use it to back up the saves for all my games. You can back up to USB or Dropbox/Onedrive if you want to sync between different PCs.
