Is Oracle still viable in anniversary edition?
Hi,

I chanced upon this Orcale guide by cassidy and it seems pretty good because it focus on the lich and lightning synergy from storm. I just wanted to know if it is still viable to play it.

Thanks!

Oracle is still completely possible to auto-pilot your way through normal mode without many issues assuming you at least do some vendor shopping per act. +2 all skills helps immensely I will say.

Meaning it would be completely useless in epic/legendary difficultly? What do you mean by vendor shopping?

well, if you build an icesharder like mine then you'll breeze through normal and mid epic easily
respec to Ternion later if you like to

what is an icesharder? Is it possible to give me a guide on that since you're having such a blast with it! And may i say you have such a nice username ;)

I ended normal mode with Oracle without deaths, it was pretty easy. Now I'm in Act 2 at epic, haven't encountered any problems yet. My build is focused on stuffs and pets so I ignored attacking spells, only got thunderball (lvl 7), just to have some good stun and control, and maxed out Storm Nimbus and Ternion. Then I got wisp (lvl 1 is enough, there's no point to upgrade) and wraith lord (and what i'm currently maxing out).

@aqvilinus how did your build look like? did you started out with storm or dream first? How should I go about building an orcale like yours?

Pick Spirit and max out Ternion Attack first, then save any points until Lv 8 and put the extra into Storm Nimbus, Essence of the Golden Fleece really helps here. From there you want to pick up Squall/Obscured Visibility and Arcane Lore, Squall because of the 100% impaired aim stopping archers from wrecking you and Arcane Lore because of the AoE. Then max out the Storm Mastery, put one point in Wisp and max out Eye of the Storm. Once you get into Epic, you can start working on maxing out your Lich.

I don't really know how to use ternion attack. It kinda sucks because it shoots out 3 and even at point blank sometimes its just 1/3 attack that got in. And out of the many characters I had, this is the one I am having so much difficulty getting by because of ternion attack. Is there anyway around this?

Ternion Attack is one of the strongest and easiest to use skills in the game. Just point and shoot. The stronger your Staff is the more powerful Ternion Attack is, so just pump all your money into that weapon slot.

Alright thank you for your advice, I'll just try my best at this! And hopefully the difficult part will be over soon. Should i grab liche king first before i go over to storm mastery?
Jet Uppercut Sep 23, 2016 @ 9:20pm
Nope, Storm Nimbus gives you a huge amount of flat damage, once you hit level 8 and put your points into Storm Nimbus you should be one shotting everything. You can put a point into him early on after you've maxed Storm Nimbus though.

Would this build make me very glass cannon type? And how should i distribute my statpoints? All int and a little in dex?

Save your attribute points and spend them when you need to equip new items. Stuff like Stonebinder's Cuffs or Revenant's Crown which are great caster items need STR to equip so just keep that in mind.

Stonebinders require almost 400 dex, something i wouldn't be willing to get on my oracle. You can get + skills from elsewhere and there are other good bracelets, specially now when they buffed mage items and sets.

Apologies for bumping an old thread but I thought I may as well contribute. I currently have a level 65 Oracle on Legendary Act 1, Normal was really easy, Epic was a lot harder, Legendary is ridiculous. I honestly don't understand how people could fight Legendary Hades at level 65 with an oracle, its absurd. I would have to say the Oracle is viable for normal difficulty up to Epic Act 3. It's not even a glass cannon anymore, sure it can wipe out trash mobs in an instant but the pets are useless. They are good up until Act 3 on any difficulty and then they are useless. Oracles are just too weak to be considered viable, even with 80% resistances they still get torn apart because to get those resistances it takes away from the damage. At most I can only get 5k dps and that's with 2 storm eyes, storm of the eye active and a battle marker. Oracle is not viable.
