One of my main builds is a pet soothsayer. I don't play him on the AE edition though.
Builds like conqueror and haruspex online can kill mobs solo on a team of +3 faster than my pet build kills them offline solo. So pet builds are really underperforming in the AE edition compared to other builds. Side by side, they can't keep up. They need to buff the damage of existing pets like wolves. Give them more flat damage, and remove the bleeding, etc. Pets like core dweller are basically useless as any sort of offensive tool in legendary. They also get rolled over by machae archers in seconds which makes them not all that great as a damage sponge.
Loot? Are you grabbing every single yellow that drops or something? I'm able to quickly scan for loot using my eyes, and rarely pick stuff up anymore. I even leave epic/legendary items on the ground if I already got a few copies. The best way to loot is kill bosses anyway, and you gotta wait till they're dead to loot them. The faster the boss is dead, the less time you invest in farming.
