Comparable to Diablo 2? Better than Torchlight 2?
I'm on the fence about this title. I love Greek Mythology and Diablo type games yet there's a lot of people who have TQ crash on them.

What are some of the important differences / similarites for this when compared to D2:LoD (which I think is the gold standard of games like these).

Sell me on this game! :JAC_Cow:

i love D2 LoD and TQ and dont like TL
Titan Quest is my absolute favorite ARPG of all time!!! Originally bought it shortly after it's initial release in 2006. Imo it beats games like D2/TL/etc hands down.
For me TQ always was better than D2. :P I love how all this fiction is mixed with real places and myth characters.

Wow then you need to get this game. Sadly you missed the 75% sale when it was released. As far as crashing goes .. I haven't had any. Game runs great.
if you enjoyed diablo 2 you will enjoy this game.
In my opinion this is the best ARPG since Diablo 2. It doesn't even compare to Torchlight, which I found uninspiring and repetitive. If you like a mythological setting, taking you through several ancient cultures around the world, as opposed to the same generic fantasy, and also a solid skill system and fun gameplay, you should definitely give TQ a try. P.S. I personally never had any crashes.

I like TQ but its first act is extremely boring. Killing Satyrs and cat people gets really repetitive after 2 hours. Hell, I'm almost to Athens and that's mostly all I've fought.

so random internet folk is better than random internet with videos. meh
to be honestly, i just hated when you spoke "sell me on this game". that "In any event I'm adding this to my wishlist and will think about it while I go eat at iHOP this morning." was also very obnoxious.

Wow, what's wrong with you?

Thanks everyone else, I believe I'm buying this in a few minutes!

He must not like iHOP...

Also- as others have said, you just missed the sale for $5. If you can hold out, just wait for another sale. Buuut, this game is worth it for $20. Most people that get into it put over 100hrs in, which is definitely more than what most people put into the average game these days. Your call, dude.

Nice one man! It's DEF worth the $20/"full price of admission" :P
I used to play the old game before the Aniversary edition came out, and have dabbled in both Diablo 2 and the first Torchlight. I can definitely say that this game is most definitely a worthy diablo clone for a number of reasons.

1. Mythology - This game doesn't just cover Greek myth. The campaign lets you explore most of the 'Old World' from Greece all the way to China and beyond. While the Greek Gods are the staple centerpiece of the story, you encounter multiple different enemies from different cultures and acquire loot from all of them. Egypt, Babylon, Arabia, Indo-China, and so forth, and I am certain that there is more. While I never managed to finish the game's main campaign I did spend hours playing this game and enjoying it non-stop just for the mythology component alone.

2. Masteries - Classes aren't divided simply by a set group of classes with their own individual skill sets and masteries that define play from the outset like in Diablo or Path of Exile. Instead the game provides you with a select choice of masteries, of which from the outset you can choose between two during early levels (up to level 8 is when you get your second one). None of these masteries are blocked off by others when you play, which means that the class you choose could be significantly different than the way you started when you first began leveling. Your the name of your class is defined once you pick both masteries (kind of like how it's done with the failed MMO Archeage), and can be significantly different to how you started. For example, my first character's initial mastery was hunter, so he specialized in using spears and bows and had buffs/attacks that could trap and contain individual enemies. When he reached level 8 I picked Defender for his second mastery, because I wanted him to play more like a traditional Greek Hoplite and take advantage of the fact that you can equip both a spear and a shield into battle (my class name reflected this, and my character was considered a 'Warden' from then on). When my friend and I began playing, however, he also chose hunter but picked his second mastery in Nature, which turned him into a traditional ranger who could summon pets into battle and apply nature buffs in combat. This frees the kind of choices you can make in terms of how you want your character to play, breaking the whole class mold of Paladin=Tank, Rogue=Damage, Cleric=Healer and giving you more freedom to choose how your character should be made for the game.

3. Multiplayer - The old title doesn't have working multiplayer on Steam, but the new one definitely does. Inviting people into the game is a breeze. Me and a friend of mine have been playing the game together for the past two weekends and have had a blast with it. Get enough people together and it'll be just like playing a game of Diablo, albeit with cyclopses and satyrs as your foe of choice rather than angels and demons.
It's installing as we speak. I figure I'd rather take a $20 shot on something I'll probably like than a $60 piece of garbage like No Man's Sky anyday.

Thanks everybody for your great comments and feedback!

Its still the best hack and slay out there right after diablo. I was wondering that the graphic of this game is still this good, it looks even better then diablo 3 for my taste (maybe because its not so cartoonish). Hope that someday a sequel will be released.

Great game for sure. Maybe normal difficulty is a bit too easy but I guess it's all about beating legendary anyway for the achievements. ;)

Cool thing in this game is that you can transfer items between chars directly in the game without the need for a MP game. So you can store items for another build as you find them and transfer them over to the new char. Also, free unlimited townportal. :skyelaugh:
