you drop it and enemies just ignore it atack you
Can you explain exactly how to do this? Unless they have changed the mechanic for lure, it only places within a small circle around the player. Have tested using shift with same result.
For one, the fact you can only summon them only 2-3 feet around you is a big problem since that means you have to go out of your way to body pull mobs towards it. Of course as a result of that, the enemies will usually end up ignoring it altogether and just go for you. Only a quarter of the time will enemies actually target it. So it's either broken or I'm missing something with it's mechanics. I'd like to make good use of it, but so far it's just been a total waste.
monster lure wasn't 100% reliable, anyway it triggered as preferential target something like 50% of cases. crucial is to not take aggro before setting the monster lure...
I did it this way: 1) cast monster lure out of mob range 2) cast traps behind the monster lure 3) get aggro with study prey
as said, the monster lure was not always reliable but helpful (when triggering)...
for example fighting the hydra: when the monster lure was not working i had to run around and cast new ones but once it triggered i could set my other traps...
Taunt sometimes works, sometimes doesn't work, no matter how much time given and whether aggroing with your character directly or via study prey.
Placement is always randomly around your character - doesn't matter whether you use 1-9 on your action bar, any mouse button, are or aren't holding down shift for stationary combat.
Health of the lure is pretty low as this thing is already getting obliterated by 4 normal NPCs on normal difficulty despite being maxed out.
Monster Lure still works, just don't deal any dmg on enemies before Monster Lure provoke enemies to attack it first:
