Typhon-How do you beat him?
Ive been reading wikis and some guides but they all seem out of date.
You cant dodge any of hes life/mana drain since he turns on a dime and autolocks you.
Plus his damage is insane.
Most of them mention the use of the shrines but Ive never seen them recharge.

Im running a Dual Wielding Spellbreaker and looks like melee is obsolete specially when keeps gaining his health back and he deals huge amount of damage.

The only exit I think I have, is to respec the character completely and do some kind of range Spirit build...

How do you deal with this boss?

What might be killing you is his thorns buff. He puts this up at the start of the fight and periodically throughout the fight, and if you melee him with it up, you can nearly kill yourself instantly on it (I did three times because of fast attack speed and not knowing it was thorns.). Once I realized that, his damage became much more managable even when tanking his life drain.

Dodge the meteors that come down, don't attack him when he has thorns on his body (you can literally see him grow spikes on himself when he buffs thorns), and he should be easier to handle. If you notice you can't keep up with his damage, run out of his melee range for a bit to heal up.

If that fails, you can try to fall back to a ranged weapon w/o respeccing and take a very long time to eventually kill him :P.

On Normal difficulty, it doesn't suffice to fight him after only clearing every map once and completing all quests. That usually will leave you at about level 32. You need to be level 36 at the least, however. Neither my assassin nor my conquerer were able to defeat him at level 32, so I went back to the Valley of Kings in order to grind some experience. Then I returned to Act III in order to grind some experience there, too. I think I defeated him at level 38, and then it was rather easy.
Apart from that, Muggy is right about the rest.

That Range thing gave me an idea and the fact I keep dying at such a close range... if it wasnt the thorns it was the life drain.... pets and how they dont get a freaking game over, xp penalty for that matter.

Respec some skills and went with max Ancestral Horn and Liche King with Battle Standard.
Took almost 3 Ancestral Horn summons to kill him.
Went back and respec my build back to what it was. I was at lvl 29.
It took almost 3 million in gold for this.

Yup, I did the same with my current character lol. Was a bit underleveled and wanted to get into act 4 at lvl 32. Was kinda silly running around in big circles just pelting him with arrows for 10-15 mins.

i guess thats a point to see this a old game.
he nearly 1 hits me with 2,5k hp life drain and 90% of my actually gameplay is running that stupid way, just dont do a respawn near the boss that will you kill xx times.

great. that boss makes the whole game to a annying suicide run random 1 hit ♥♥♥♥.

edit: wtf? after using a scroll (-armor for enemys) just killed him in seconds with autoattack only? Level 33. just war leading or how the class names in english.
that boss is still stupid. and just yellow trash items. maybe because in the only 20 minutes of playing online, some random guy joined and just killed him in the time we are just in act2.

The shrines don't recharge. Once used, that is it.

Just avoid his main AOE damage and move out of the way.. Move back in, hit, hit and out again... repeat

Nuf said.

This thing is ridiculous. It is bad enough trying to even make a dent in his health and then that thing regenerates his health. No way he can be beaten like that. I saw somewhere that he didn't regenerate his health, but that was false, he does. I have a Legacy Bow that I am using as well as a Legacy Bludgeon. You can't add anything to them. Also have legacy Armor ( 96 + some goodie Mods ). Seeing as how he does regenerate his health, it is a waste of time to continue with this as it makes him unbeatable. The weapons are way under strength. There should have been some that were 100 - 100+ I have a Legacy weapon, two actually as the bow is one. those legacy things are in Blue when they are dropped. As for all these suggestions about moving in and moving out, until he is gone, doesn't work as long as he keeps healing himself, and he does. I have the original game, but it won't play on this thing, or won't Install, forgot which. Saw the Anniversary Edition and figured it had been optimized to run on this and it was. I know they made some changes from the original, but have no clue as to how Typhon was in that version. They screwed up in this version if they did in fact monkey with him. No combat balance at all and I am playing at the lowest difficulty level.

I'm with you. The game is slow, but flows and is fun until Typhon. Then everything comes to a screeching halt and it's insanely difficult. For me, that is quitting time. I'll spend my gaming time playing other stuff. I'm not spending several hours fighting ONE boss.
Aciumon Jul 21, 2018 @ 3:38pm
Can you show your build and skills? Typhon is not that strong. He may seem for a new player but very often you take wrong skills and items.
Crusader Jul 21, 2018 @ 5:44pm
I've noticed he tends to get easier with higher levels. When I first did him around level 32, he was an absolute nightmare. Around level 40, I ripped him a new one.

What's important for melee characters is to get your Vitality resistance up as high as possible. This will pretty much nullify his life drain ability. If possible, get at least one other resistance up, preferably Lightning. For all characters, try to avoid his spells; just disengage and run around until he has finished whatever nasty stuff he's trying. Then re-engage.

I beat him up on normal pretty easily with a level 32 assassin. Just learn to watch for his meteors (he has a pretty distinctive animation for that), and back off and circle around a bit if you need to heal. I didn't even know he has a Thorns aura, but I guess that's something I'll need to learn to watch out in the future as well.
Pannathrax Jul 21, 2018 @ 10:09pm
getting a 80% vitality resistance can help greatly, the life drain effect is greatly reduced and only the meteor need to be avoided.

battle standard and deathchill is enough to lower its resistance for melee attack, stop for a moment if see thorn.

i did the prophet with squall to lower the resistance and melee trance of wrath, did it within 2 minutes.

increase your own resistance while lower its resistance then you can finish him.

How does battle standard survive Typhon? Is there a special place to plant it?
