LAN gaming does not seem to work
We're trying to play TQ:AE using LAN, but two Windows 10 PCs in the same room, on the same network, that can see each other just fine for the purposes of windows networking, cannot get a LAN game working. It gets even weirder, because PC1 can host a LAN game that PC2 can see, but not join, whereas PC2 can host a LAN game that PC1 won't even see in its listing when trying to join a LAN game.

I love Titan Quest, I played immortal throne to the tune of 406 hours between the base game and Litih, but it would appear that where TQ:IT's LAN mode worked fine, the new TQ:AE LAN mode is rather broken. Is this a known issue (if so, is there a link to the official issue tracking for this), or was LAN gaming never fully tested and is this a new issue (thus unlikely to be patched any time soon, making this a pointless game to own - after having played the game at least ten times, the fun is in coop, not running it solo)

If you play LAN-only, then packets should go through your LAN router, so besides signing-in, there should be no internet traffic.

The strange thing is that LAN worked previously. Probably multiplayer patch screwed things up. Hope they fix it.

Just chiming in to say that I've successfully done LAN play in Windows 10 without problems.

Considering it works fine for some and not for others, I wonder if the issue is with the router or other network configuration.
Could you maybe point a finger to what could be the problem (network option-wise)?

Just bumping this thread to hopefully get some response, or maybe a link to the problem being solved. Can't get LAN play to work.

I don't know if it's the solution you are looking for but you can try installing tunngle, which basically does exactly that, create a LAN connection. I use it when playing with some friends from the same city because it significantly improves the ping for everyone.

You could have at least typed over the text in addition to linking to a screenshot of a different forum post:

"I have 2 windows 10 computers on the same LAN network by neither could see the other within TQ. Each machine has multiple network devices some real some virtual. I had to disable all but the one connected to the LAN to get the LAN multiplayer to work in TQ. My guess is that it grabs the first network device it finds, which might not be the correct one"

Which I'm sure works, but isn't really an option for folks who have multiple network devices for a reason, and need them to to stay active regardless of whether one of them is getting used for some LAN gaming.

I discovered that NordLynx (Nord VPN) was preventing my husband and I from connecting via LAN.

Once we both uninstalled Nord completely from our computers, we were able to play the game together over LAN without any problems.

another solution. Had this problem with grim dawn. Son was playing x64 will I was playing x86. Needed to play the same.

Note that neither of those were applicable to our situation, even if those might be things to try for other people.

Just tested this workaround with my two PCs connected to LAN, and I can confirm that it works!

If this is an option for you, jest disable all network devices except one that you use for network access - hosting/joining LAN server will work.

It really looks like a bug in TQ AE

To confirm this worked for our LAN games too. Tested last night.

We were both using a wireless adaptor on Windows 10 and I had to disable all other adaptors. It worked thereafter. Also notably I did completely disable both our firewalls.

I know I'm resurrecting an old post but I've looked everywhere about the Lan issue and found out something that might be the problem. Maybe it's just on my system but when I tried to host a Lan game it didn't triggered the Windows pop-up asking if I want to allow this application on Private/Public network. On my wife computer it Windows showed the pop-up when she tried to join to add exception in the firewall. So I opened the Windows Defender Firewall setting and manually added TQ.exe to the exception list. It worked flawlessly after that. :)

Definitely turn off VPN if you have it as it will make your computer look like it's not on the local network.

Have you guys tried turning network Discovery on or off in Windows?
