D3 focused on Post-End Game Content recently. It's also dropping in popularity.
Yeah i'm done with you, you have nothing going for you now, better of talking to my cat, least she understands more.
Edit: I also see the game you've played the most is Binding of Isaac, which is a grinding game, go figure.
Nowhere I said that lazy design don't sell. I agreed with OP that this boring by pointing out how it's boring.
The vanilla D3 was boring as he'll on the first difficulties. TQ suffer similarly as someone else pointed.
Binding of Isaac has unlockable content, it does not have grind in the sense of farming levels and gear with the same character. In fact the game forces you to play different characters.
The entire campaign takes about 1 hour.
Most ARPGs start off pretty easy. It's an ARPG, not a roguelike.
Get over it bro, this game is 10 years old what you were expecting? some crazy interactions/mechanics? please go play other games then, because the difference really is that in Titan Quest/Grim Dawn you use single target spells while on Diablo 3/Path of exile it's an AOE fest, you can't even know wtf is happening in your screen.
peace
Look at Warnand,an action game too but the fight there much more better AND you can level up your character too.
And yes,boss-enenies are harder to kill in TQ,but the fight are very simple to: You run around the enemy use your attacks, run away, heal you.....and yes the "Great" tactic" you use sometimes spells and your bow ect.
And i never say TQ is bad,but for me too simple. But to compare this game with chess is only laughable.
But it seems such games will played from very young players, they prefer simple mainstream-gameplay (can you see very well how many play all the mainstreammess call of duty, battlefield, the witcher ect.) Modern player prefer simple games with good grafic and idiotic stats, unlocks, ranks and a lot of gore. And rhe biggest idiots-wave is the "zombie-mode".Every child cry for zombies in every(serious) game like arma, call to arms, doorkickers and the most other games too.
Such games like Gothic or Oblivion Are action games too,but they have a huge better gameplay as diablo/TQ. there you have not such a "click all monsters dead" gameplay".
Ok,stop now here. But i repeat: TQ is not a bad game, but much to simple. But players they mean TQ have tactical fights or compare it with chess....sorry they are only stupid.
And yes,my english is horrible!
A lot of the main flaws of the game could be addressed pretty easily with mods. A few mods adding new uniques, sets and classes and suddenly its a new game! Adding a few new enemies with different attack patterns would also go a long long way. One of my main issues with this game is that most monsters follow the same pattern. They are melle and just straight attack, ranged and just straight attack or are casters and basically attack with a chance of a secondary effect. Way too basic but easily fixed with mods!
Try D2 :p its still thriving community.
D2 community would be the largest around if they updated the game the way Titan Quest just got updated. Even without extras like Workshop/mod support I cant imagine how D2 would thrive with a good update to HD/run on modern systems more effectivly. I need to stop talking about this before some random D2 mod sucks up another 2,000 hours of my life.
Same with Age of Mythology. Setting very great, but the devs make a horrible work and the DLC For AOM is very horrible too. Balance is very worse and some server dont allow to play the chinese.
AOM is a good example for a very bad remake,TQ an example for a very great remake.
So not every remake will be good .
When you like such hack and slay gameplay TQ is fantastic.
Do you know if some server run the PVP mode too? And make this mode fun? Perhaps gameplay is better to play against another player because they will play more clever then the ai-monster.
lol
Will it get through your thick skulls that yes, the points you make are valid to a point: as a general game is concerned, not as an hack and slash. As an hack and slash TQ is slightly slower paced than what is standart and just has an unusually colorful setting (aesthetics). One of those is objective, other subjestive and up to personal taste. In every other regard, this game is a true hack'n'slash gem.
It's a bloody 10 year old game that was further repolished by a company from not only love but for profit. That alone should clue you in that it's something good, or, that at least, there is marketable audience for it.
But we discussed this already... just get it that maybe you're not the demographic? It may sound counter intuitive or an oxymoron to you, but a game can be boring and entertaining. The best example I can give of this is the first dungeon siege from personal experience. You could have the settings for the game so that it nearly played by itself. This was most aparent when you decided to only play with a single character, as it would earn more XP and have and edge over monsters for the most of the game.
And yet... it kept me, and probably many others playing for many hours straight. It's a low level decision making, attachment to character and commitment to choices made (very simpistic in this example though with only 4 classes, but still, a commitment, no respeccs)
It's the character growth loophole. The carrot on the stick. You know it's there (hopefully) but you won't be paying for the same experience monthly while unware it's there along with all the artificial attrition (hopefully).
These games are USUALLY made as slow burners. But aparently some people are seeking a roast level of speedy burn <.<
For the demographic, they are rewarded with reflect damage surprises. Monsters using same synnergies you use. Monster actually using the rare item they will drop on you. Game dificulty rising and slowly demaning better choices. Trying one of the other 44 possible class combinations. "Oh no, why is the floor all green? I'm dead T_T. Why did my pets explode on boss? Why are pets betraying me? The time put into learning passives and actives, what works together and what doesn't.
Also, there's the new game speed settings if you want your 5 bucks fast food experience. So there, have fun
