Eye of chaos bug / cannot progress the main story line.

It seems eye of chaos doesnt always drop(you will be stuck). And what i quickly found from the internet, after that happened to me, is it will drop eventually if you try it again few more times.

But how can i "reset" the boss encounter(get it to spawn again)?

Go back to a portal town, and exit the game. Relaunch the game. It will reset after relaunch.

And good luck. Sometimes it breaks a dozen times before the thing finally drops where you can actually pick it up. Play normal game speed too, since the usual people will show up and tell you that is the problem, but I always played at normal game speed, and it still glitched repeatedly, every time i had to run that quest for a new toon. It's broken. it has been since the game was first developed by THQ, it never got fixed by them or Nordic after they bought the IP. Though, they wil tell you it is fixede, and you just need to play at normal game speed. *smh*

TL;DR- save, exit, relaunch the game. As many times as it takes.

Think the only reason it hasn't gotten fixed is due to being so inconsistent.
For some it never happens, for others it happens sometimes and for some others it happens all the time except for a rare chance.

I for example have never had this problem and I've played ever since the game was released way back when.

Second time i tried it it didnt drop either, but i forgot to change the game speed(it was on fast, as it was on the first try). Changing it back to normal made it drop on the third try.

Guys, hope you will be able to help as I have something similar. Well I have got the item and I'm trying to progress, but the NPC is just not taking it. It keeps telling "now bring me that other item" while I have it in my pocket.

I tried to relog into game, tried to drop it and pick up again many times and tried to kill that boss few more times as well. Nothing helps!

Is there any chance to fix it?

If you already have eye of chaos could it be you are missing that other quest item, the hand?

Nope...I have them both. To be sure, I killed both bosses one more time so I would have 2 items on the hands.

Try to delete the last created .que file in your save directory (back it up to be on the safe side) and try again.
