How to play original Titan Quest + Immortal Throne?
Is there a way to launch the original game, the non Anniversary Edition?

Thanks. I have the old discs somewhere. Too bad though, i was hoping for a digital copy. Why didn't they include the original game in the anniversary edition? Lots of remasters/re-releases and whatnot, usually contain the older game for free...

They did, what's what a remaster is. They just updated some things, did some bug fixing, added a few new bosses to fight. The AE version of the game is TQ and IT. And people who owned the digital version of the original game on Steam were able to get AE for free for a certain period of time.

They can include the original in the purchase and have it automatically added to your library. One game that already does this, Divinity Original Sin 1, they made an enhanced edition, however it adds the Classic and Def as two different games in your library so you have the choice. This is a thoughtful company who understands that the changes they made won't be accepted by everyone, and that's fine, they can play the old ver.

AE being already the original, but "better" isn't a black and white thing. There are great changes, but horribles ones, overall the objectively good ones are QoL additions and changes to damage type scaling with attributes and other +% stats. Playing the original can be seen as step back, because of no quick-cast, auto loot, relic vault, lack of engine speed, but all of these things can be solved with third party solutions (how we were all playing in 2007).

I won't discuss the ghastly changes they made in AE which destroyed the original developers vision of the game that made me go back to play IT in 2016 for a bit, but if you wish to play the original you can get an offline version and get the Fan Patch 1.17, it fixes a lot of bugs. I won't instruct you on how to get a copy of the game though, should be fairly easy to discover that online.

Yes, you're right... Still though, some remasters do offer both games, new and old. The old one, usually as a standalone "extra". Like Blade of Darkness did, for instance.

Already found my old disks! After i beat the newest DLC at Legendary, i am thinking of permanently relocating over to the original TQ+IT. I gave a thorough look and didn't like the overall nerf+balance thing, especially with monster infrequents such as Homados and Batrachos Greaves... Or the nerfs at Dream tree skills.

I would download the Fan Patch 1.17, because the company went bankrupt and could not fix all the things they did intend to work.

- Ravages of Time does not reduce damage.
- Nymph actually does less damage on level 19 and 20.
- The minus physical damage from Fatigue is totally messed up
- Pets aren't able to use petskills above their max level
- Level 11 and 12 of Reflection yield no increase
- Ternion Attack, the skill of "Spirit Mastery" will not take advantage of the
"projectile speed bonus" witch Arcane Lore offered.
- Triumph does not reduce damage

This is a tiny fraction of the amount of fixes that it does.

Of course this is up to you, if you don't care about a lot of the skills not totally working or don't notice it enough to irritate you, have fun!

You'd need the key to be able to get them to work though. Do you have that?

Of course. It is the retail package. Has a key for Titan Quest and a key for IT expansion. I think it cannot be used on steam though.
No, wouldn't work with Steam.

That's actually for the best as something they did in the AE version effected the Steam TQ and TQ:IT version.

When you try to lauch the old version on steam it wants you to enter the key, but doesn't give you anywhere to enter the key data. You end up having to go into the files and manually enter it into the data. Kind of a pain.

I never did use the fan patch and honestly never noticed any problems with the stock game.

I had a copy from a friend, I still have the game files on an ISO format. This is how actually played it the first time. But by 2008 or so it had become abandonware with unofficial patches that were fan made and brought some very important fixes like skills not working properly, quests not giving the proper rewards and various bug fixes. I actually played this for a long time till I decided to buy this. It was either this or GOG games. But steam already had an active community so I decided for this because active community means being able to trade, being able to have access to important bug fixes and many other benefits.

I think you can find some very old CDs on Ebay if patient enough.

There were some glaring issues left over. You'll see when you read the old changelog for the Fanpatch and to a lesser extent the changelog of my Patchfix.
