Some easy tips for new players.
I see plenty of advice on different builds for new players, so I thought I would just lay down some tips (a few are just the way I have learned to play) which would be useful for any build.

Do not see some of these tips in many places.

At the start turn on your filter so you can see all items dropped (on my notebook it is x) after level 3 I do alt + x to see just yellow items.

When you pick up an item at the start it will be automatically equipped as you have nothing in them slots at the moment.

If you have TQVault remember to talk to caravan driver or you will not be able to use it when out of game.

Buy a couple of health potions from merchant. Do not take on 2 or more boars at a time, you will not like it at low levels.

IMPORTANT. First quest when crossing the bridge, pick up and equip the "torch", best weapon at start of the game. It has a nice amount of elemental damage.

Run the first quest twice, when finished first time just exit to main menu and run again.
Might be boring but pick up every item and sell - the reasons why will become evident.

By the end of running the quest twice you are now level 3 and can wear yellow items.
Use the money you made from the loot and buy some extra damage jewellery. Elemental damage is excellent against the undead.

Alt + x now, you only want to see yellow and above items.

Check and clear every area and do all quests. You will need better equipment as you progress and not only do quest give extra XP but some have nice rewards to stats, health or skill level.

Always pick up the recipes and whenever possible make an artefact. Does not matter which one although some are much better than others i.e Shroud of Night (level 10). Shroud of Night gives some nice resistances and a lot more damage output.

Once in Babylon "spam" shop (this just means go to merchant check his inventory, exit to main menu and repeat) merchants, there inventory changes each time you exit to main menu and restart.Look for good green items and weapons. This is how I get 95% of my Hallowed Helms (+1 skills) and it only takes 10 to 15 seconds a run. Nothing there after 15 to 20 minutes carry on and try next merchant when you reach them.
You do need some money for this. In epic it just cost me 6,000,000 for a really unique green weapon (had to have it).

Anything here you would change or do you have any other nice easy tips to make the start a little nicer for new players?

Geat tips. Another alternative at the beginning is to buy a staff or a bow, to save some money on potions.

Some extra:

Don't worry about resistances until Act 2, there mostly Fire & Poison, Act 3 is Cold at the beginning, later Fire. Add Lightning + Vitality for Typhon. Act 4 is Cold, Vitality, Pierce.

Physical resistance is incredibly useful but rare. Even a 6% physical resist makes a difference.

If you have a hard time at any point 90% is low resistances. In normal you don't need to cap them but is really helpful to prevent high damage.

Always spend some points in dexterity from time to time no matter your build. Getting crit is the fastest way to be dead. Non-melee should look for some Defensive Ability in items past Act 2. Melee should invest more in dexterity.

Your main scaler for a dude swinging a weapon is attack speed, for casters is +Skills, later Int + recharge. +Skills is quite useful for everyone though.

Always check out for weapons with higher base damage as you progress, is more important than you could think, due to monsters' armor. Also, the values on armor, especially the chest. Is important to keep values more or less up to date.
