If you want a hardcore legendary character go for anything mixed with Defense and Nature. Or both, why not...
Maybe this is the best DoT build in my opinion overall on all side: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG4CC_9_NoQ
I wanted to try an electrical burn build, but this video explains nothing. Is there a guide for it?
It's highly desirable to try to find Prospector Rod.

Yes, it is.
One of the best weapons you can go for in regard to poison DoT is "Gorgon's Edge": https://tq-db.net/en/equipment/gorgon's-edge
Because of the insane 1200 poison damage base (can get even higher if you are lucky with the seed of the weapon).
With the Trickster you've got "Reckless Offensive" which allows you to wield two of these babies and "Thunder Strike" to launch ten projectiles at once. Each projectile carrying your weapon damage and poison. So you can spread your poison damage to a whole group with one throw basically annihilating them. But the best thing about "Thunder Stike" is can be bound to the left mouse button - so if you can get your energy cost down and you energy regen up you can use it as your main attack.
Second synergy of the class is "Runeword: Explode". Not very many people know but the AoE effect of that passive ability carries weapon effects like your poison too (Runeword: Burn sadly doesn't). But it only works on normal attacks not on casts of abilities like "Thunder Strike". But since that has a cooldown (7s) you basically start a fight with one throw wiping out most enemies and then your following throws until the cooldown is over are normal throws with a chance to trigger "Runeword: Explode" spreading even more poison to any stragglers.
As for undeads and constructs you don't really have to worry - you got "Disarm Traps" boosting your damage against constructs. As for undeads - they aren't buff enough to give you any trouble. Their 80% poison absorbtion can be easily brute forced with just adding more +Poison Damage equip. Somewhere along the line you just make so much damage it doesn't matter anymore. And you've got more than enough equip, relics and affixes floating around to boost your poison damage to ridiculous levels.
The only thing that can really create problems for you are enemies with reflect like in some Ragnarok DLC areas - because with you doing so much poison damage the reflected damage may outpace the amount you are able to heal with you potions since they have a cooldown too. I often find that I have to deliberately deactivate "Envenom Weapn" and lowering my damage to be safe.
But yeah - that's just my suggestion. Go with anything you like. Pretty much all classes are viable. The game isn't really that difficult to begin with.
Edit: I kinda forgot - for bosses don't forget "Lethal Strike + Mortal Wound" - the additional +445% Poison Damage make short work of anything in your way.
Trickster has been well explained by Asturaetus.
Prophet can be focused on lightning DoT, you get great class synergy and the great thing is that lightning is not hardly resisted unlike poison. Then you have distort reality and squall which are both truly amazing.
I am doing a self-found run with prophet, I'm in act 2 legendary, only 10 deaths, most of all due to distractions or poor gearing against hydra, solid build, we will see on Act 3+
