Best Damage over Time Build That Can Solo Legendary
I'm curious, what's the best (or what are the best possible options) for a build which can solo all three difficulties, be self-found with gear, and primarily focuses on damage over time as the primary source of destroying enemies?

I'm thinking from what I have seen so far it would be Brigand, or at least anything including the Rogue mastery. I notice playing solo I die easily in this game, even with a decent defensive/tank build. Granted, I might play a bit reckless and since there is no real penalty to dying, I don't focus 100% on not getting killed.

I think a DoT build would suit my play style well, since I can just hit and run all battle until enemies are dead. In particular I have more problems with bosses (Typhon, both forms, I can't stand him) than anything else. I figure something that chews away at him while I kite would be ideal.

So what are the top builds for this sort of play, and are they actually viable?

It would be an illusionist (rogue and nature). Nature has a spell to reduce poison resistance (susceptibility). You can use your weapon and gas bomb to inflict poison damage after the poison debuff. Nature is tanky too for a better survavibility. If you like hit and run, you should also consider traps from the rogue mastery, you lay 3 of them and they just do all the work for you

Most of my characters are for solo builds. I have one Assassin, I call him one hit wonder. Most of the monsters I touch with my blade die off from the first hit from poison/bleed damage. I usually gather them in large crowds of dozen, mix in a few poison gas bombs in the cocktail, then just proceed on "touching" them with a double wield. If anything is still standing I put down the blade barrier and run through it mincing whatever is left. You could throw in some traps, some knives too. I beat up bosses fairly easy too but I have to watch out for damage return. When I farm Typhon for loot I get myself killed out of my own bleeding damage when I lethal strike him exactly when he pushes out those spikes from his body. Try to Lethal Strike him exactly after he uses that skill. I mean exactly after it wears off.

If you want a hardcore legendary character go for anything mixed with Defense and Nature. Or both, why not...

I quote this post. Illusionist is awesome at dealing poison damage, survivability, and a lot of fun playing this class. Cast Briar ward with maxed sanctuary, launch the 3 traps+gas bombs +plague and enjoy. One of the most entertaining classes.

For illusionist Flashpowder has good synergy with Plague. The confusion wandering motion spreads the plague.

Maybe this is the best DoT build in my opinion overall on all side: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG4CC_9_NoQ

I wanted to try an electrical burn build, but this video explains nothing. Is there a guide for it?

Conjurer ofc.
It's highly desirable to try to find Prospector Rod.

That poison bomb sounds fun, with poison and bleed damage. How does it stack up with electrical burn?
karakat 2021 年 7 月 9 日 上午 8:22
Electrical burn is to weak, there are to many poison and bleed resist/absorb, if you want the best dot damage in the game you need burning.
Pietato 2021 年 7 月 9 日 下午 7:38
Burn seems weak, though. And there is a boss immune to it. You sure it is the best?
karakat 2021 年 7 月 10 日 上午 1:58
You can collect more damage with poison + bleeding, but it will be difficult with undead and constructs, i prefer burning. And Surtr is a very easy boss, don't care about it.

To give a different suggestion than what has already been mentioned. I made a Trickster (Rune + Rogue) character as a poison slinger and think it's a pretty good combination.

One of the best weapons you can go for in regard to poison DoT is "Gorgon's Edge": https://tq-db.net/en/equipment/gorgon's-edge

Because of the insane 1200 poison damage base (can get even higher if you are lucky with the seed of the weapon).

With the Trickster you've got "Reckless Offensive" which allows you to wield two of these babies and "Thunder Strike" to launch ten projectiles at once. Each projectile carrying your weapon damage and poison. So you can spread your poison damage to a whole group with one throw basically annihilating them. But the best thing about "Thunder Stike" is can be bound to the left mouse button - so if you can get your energy cost down and you energy regen up you can use it as your main attack.

Second synergy of the class is "Runeword: Explode". Not very many people know but the AoE effect of that passive ability carries weapon effects like your poison too (Runeword: Burn sadly doesn't). But it only works on normal attacks not on casts of abilities like "Thunder Strike". But since that has a cooldown (7s) you basically start a fight with one throw wiping out most enemies and then your following throws until the cooldown is over are normal throws with a chance to trigger "Runeword: Explode" spreading even more poison to any stragglers.

As for undeads and constructs you don't really have to worry - you got "Disarm Traps" boosting your damage against constructs. As for undeads - they aren't buff enough to give you any trouble. Their 80% poison absorbtion can be easily brute forced with just adding more +Poison Damage equip. Somewhere along the line you just make so much damage it doesn't matter anymore. And you've got more than enough equip, relics and affixes floating around to boost your poison damage to ridiculous levels.

The only thing that can really create problems for you are enemies with reflect like in some Ragnarok DLC areas - because with you doing so much poison damage the reflected damage may outpace the amount you are able to heal with you potions since they have a cooldown too. I often find that I have to deliberately deactivate "Envenom Weapn" and lowering my damage to be safe.

But yeah - that's just my suggestion. Go with anything you like. Pretty much all classes are viable. The game isn't really that difficult to begin with.

Edit: I kinda forgot - for bosses don't forget "Lethal Strike + Mortal Wound" - the additional +445% Poison Damage make short work of anything in your way.

Trickster / Phophet are my picks.

Trickster has been well explained by Asturaetus.

Prophet can be focused on lightning DoT, you get great class synergy and the great thing is that lightning is not hardly resisted unlike poison. Then you have distort reality and squall which are both truly amazing.

I am doing a self-found run with prophet, I'm in act 2 legendary, only 10 deaths, most of all due to distractions or poor gearing against hydra, solid build, we will see on Act 3+
karakat 2021 年 7 月 11 日 上午 11:25
i don't see any reason to focus prophet on lightning burn, because there is no way for you to stack it even close to burn/poison+bleed.
