Ssark - Nile Floodplain
What the hell is this BS boss? He is only a side-boss (27lvl vs my 20lvl) and yet I'm helpless against him as a warrior, while steamrolling everything else till now. Not only has he absurd dexterity, he also has a some kind of passive defence orb that fires at you offscreen! and then tracks you insistently, taking at least 150hp and 100en each hit.

Before I can even close range with him I get hit three times and 1/5 of my hp is gone, with barely any energy to plop down a banner. Even then 3 seconds later I'm dead. I could probably beat him if not for that ridiculous orb sniping me all the time.

It's like the guy came down from two levels higher than he should be.

He's a mere Hero - those are recognizable by having a golden star above their heads. And thus he's purely random, so you can quit the session, and probably not get him next time around. His "Defense" is his Storm Wisp. Which can be pretty surprising early in the game. Also, they're dodgy critters, really hard to kill with Warfare (Elemental AoEs work nicely, though).

So to help your problem: Grab gear with lightning resistance to mitigate hs and the Wisp's damage. Drink a healing potion early on - they have that HoT-effect... ...and try rushing in, without tossing the banner, might also work better.

Re. Resistances: You'll have to keep those up from mid-Act-3 onwards anyway - TQ is won on the defense. So it doesn't hurt to collect some gear for that now.

Didn't know they come in random, guess in this can the game gave me a really hard configuration to beat. Thanks for the advice, will buff up my lightening resistance to the max.

Alright, I won, but mostly because I lucked out in this case. I came from behind him and managed to stun him with my sword, long enough to plop down the banner and kill him before the stun ended. Even then the Storm Wisp managed to shave 300hp from my pool in 3-4 seconds even though I had lightening resistance up to 70%. That thing is no joke.

As an off-topic advice: Use much your skill points to climb the Mastery Rank ladders - that also gives you quite a bunch of Stat points, HP, and Energy points. Varies according to the Mastery in question, though. But those stats will normally carry you through normal difficulty.

Just to say I usually find one or two heroes in each act that make bosses appear easy.
Just be-aware and keep your eye out for any heroes.
Last time I went through there SSark tag teamed me with a second hero.

... yea, game can go smoothly and lull you into sleapy feel of easy, but then you run into som crazy hero and he destroys you befor you even wake up to whats going on ....
... ever since SSark ended my deatles Brigand run im aware of his danger and some other heroes, like said before, two or three in each act are very dangerous...

At act 2 your start to see some decent hero foes, but Act 3 and 4 is a nightmare. This one in particular has Spellbreaker (storm skill), so he will drain your energy from time to time.

Heroes may appear within a group of enemies, they are the elite of the champions, and they usually have unique spells and abilities not seen on their monster class/group.

Sometimes they have normal stats, sometimes huge stats, or huge skills.

I have only met this hero once in all my hours/ years of playing, but if you are trying for a 0 death run and in the Minotaur Labyrinth or before Megara you see Toxeus the Green (Murderer) then exit the damn game or run.
This is not the Toxeus from the "secret passage", but his big brother. I lot damn worse.
Read somewhere it was a dev who used to go home and imagine the worst type of hero you might encounter and just for fun introduced him.
Spawns seldom (close to 10000 hours seen him once), but beware.
