Good luck.
Do you have all the DLC activated? Because this might or might not be the way the game handles unknown / non-unlocked objects... ...and if your char holds some Ragnarök or Atlantis or Mod gear in their hands, these would be unknown to the base game. And the installation starts with the base game without mods.
Another thing: After the installation, where old files are searched and imported, the game only accepts / recognizes chars made inside the game. So there would be a workaround:
- Copy your "_charname'" folder and/or rename it, e.g. "_oldchar"
- create a new char with the old char's name, must be identical.
- "Play" that char: launch, enter Helos, exit the game (IDK if that's really necessary, but then you definitely have a save)
- copy all the contents of "_oldchar" into "_charname", overwrita all same-name files when prompted..
- Retry launching your char.
Again, this might or might not help, and it's easy enough to try out...
Yea, I have all the dlcs activated. I have tried several scenarios with trying to save and overwrite with the older character, but everytime game crashes, when i am starting the game in character selection. Perhaps there is no solution, at least no easy way?
One more thing you can try to at least salvage your gear: Pass that over to another char, and try using the rename strategy to shuttle it over to your new (hopefully fast and snazzy :D) machine.
You might want to try it one a newly made, still empty char, though.
Oh, and the crash might or might not be caused by TQ's habit to auto-equip stuff if it fits into empty slots... ...so, as an idea / hypothesis: The import botched your old char by trying to make him or her dual wield potions...
To test that, you can try to buy some cheapo gear from the vendor in Helos to fill all slots gear slots (minus Artifact) on your old machine. Then retry the rename way to shuttle her or him over.
