This is a quest you can do in all three difficulties. There's no point for not doing it.

OK, I will go back and see if i can finish it. I found the meed and dident go back untill i had finished with normal.

That's an odd way to do things. You should have found two separate things of mead then. One from the goat. One from a giant a little later, which is way before the blacksteel ingot.

this quest is imo one of the best in the game...it allows you to add a random modification to a legendary or epic item (blue/purple gear) since most of the best gear in the game are purples or blue (except shields and weapons) and you can get really broken mods like veterans on a endgame legendary armor..might as well do it..

the first one i ever enchanted gave me the light mod which lowers all equip req on all items by 9% on a chiron loop which makes beng a hybrid much easier though i think it coulda rolled a better mod.

It's indeed one of the best quests in the game but it really needs many times to run this quest for some good results.

No you can't. There is no way. Only once per difficulty.
